‘The Cabin in the Woods’ Director Drew Goddard Helming Genre Film ‘Bad Times at the El Royale’

The film will be Goddard’s second feature as a director.

Drew Goddard is one of the key creative forces behind two of my personal favorite films of the last 10 years. He wrote the 2008 found footage monster movie Cloverfield, and both co-wrote and directed the brilliant The Cabin in the Woods. Goddard also wrote World War Z and The Martian, so it’d be very fair to say that he’s one of the hottest talents in Hollywood today.

We’ve just learned that Goddard will return to the director’s chair with upcoming genre film Bad Times at the El Royale, a project that is currently shrouded in secrecy. 20th Century Fox purchased the spec script, penned by Goddard, and he’s set to produce and direct.

The top secret spec is being described as a contained thriller with either horror or science fiction elements. So it seems like a project we’ll be covering here on Bloody Disgusting.

Steve Asbell will oversee for Fox.
