Marion Crane Arrives at the "Bates Motel" TONIGHT! - Bloody Disgusting!

Marion Crane Arrives at the “Bates Motel” TONIGHT!

The Psycho franchise’s second most iconic character is back.

Portrayed by Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, the character Marion Crane memorably met her demise in a Bates Motel shower; she was of course repeatedly stabbed to death by Norman Bates, in a scene that nobody will ever forget. For A&E’s prequel series “Bates Motel, which runs into the Psycho storyline in its fifth and final season, singer Rihanna plays the role Leigh made famous, and the character’s two-episode run begins tonight, March 20th.

The episode “Dreams Die First” will mark the very first appearance of Rihanna’s Marion Crane. The show will redefine the character, and it’s possible she may even have a different fate.

In tonight’s episode…

Norman tries to piece together Mother’s movements; in Seattle, Dylan and Emma confront an ugly truth; Sam’s girlfriend, Marion, makes an impulsive decision with far-reaching consequences.
And then, next Monday night…
A special guest checks into the motel; Dylan grapples with devastating news; Sam and Madeleine’s marriage reaches a crossroads.

Check out a sneak peek of “Dreams Die First” below.

I doubt we’ll see rihanna getting sliced up in the shower…

    • Dan

We didn’t see JLC’s mom get diced up either, it was all mostly implied.

  • Bla Blah

oooh this is going to be so satisfying to see the upset white guys throwing a fit over this. I don’t even watch this show.

    • Flu-Like Symptoms

Why would white guys be throwing a fit exactly?

      • Bla Blah

uhhh, you mean the Hollywood target audience who have been the benefactor every time a film gets whitewashed but consistently throws a fit every time a white character is played by a non-white actor as if Hollywood hasn’t been doing the reverse since the conception of film itself aren’t going to say anything about a classic film’s white female character being played by a black woman?
I will be incredibly surprised if this goes by without a notice. On facebook, ive already seen said white guys going on their “liberal PC media” rants, who I bet are totally fine with Scarlet Johanson playing an Asian character or Mermaid Melissa playing a black one. Its pretty standard and typical. White Hermione played by a black actresss? Nope. White Angelina Jolie as black Fox from Wanted. Totally okey dokey. God is being played by a black oman in some film and people are throwing a fit over that. It happens.

        • Flu-Like Symptoms

What goofy nonsense. The shit people obsess over. Only issue I take with her casting was them going with a non-qualified, non-talented actress to fill such an iconic role for ratings. Couldn’t care less about her skin color.

    • So you don’t even watch it, you just wanted to make a bitchy social justice comment to cause drama. You’re the only one making this about her skin colour. Go away.

      • Bla Blah

I don’t watch it, I just know well enough 1) There weren’t any black people in Psycho, so either Marion is a new character or a race lifted one. Both of which I have no issue with, but I know enough about americans to know that 2) people will get upset about this because the race change is not in favor of white. Had Marion been black in the original and being played by a white actress now, people would simply make excuses (See Scarlet Johanson in Ghost In The Shell.) but she was white in the original and black now, so people will complain (see Fantastic Four, Death Note, etc). Like I said: It happens all the time. I already see people getting pissy about it on facebook.

        • You’re genuinely the first person I’ve seen to make an issue about her being black instead of white. Really it doesn’t matter in the slightest.

I don’t have a problem with her skin colour, just her. I don’t like her acting or singing at all. I had the same issue with Gaga being in American Horror Story. She’s a pop star, not an actress.

          • Bla Blah

I’m looking elsewhere and I see people bringing it up as well. I don’t have an issue with Rihanna, great singer, great dancer, great personaility, and her acting is getting better, although I think she needs some humble roles to take on. I don’t watch the show, but id watch just to see her

          • Maybe, but it isn’t really fair to come here and expect everyone to do the same. Clearly you’re a fan so that’s fine, everyone has different tastes. No need for the ‘hurr white people are dumb jealous racists’ line though

          • Bla Blah

me being a fan has nothing to do with it, it could have been any other actress for all I care, I’m just making an observation. I know hollywoods target audience doesn’t like to feel slighted by things like this. And as such I was proven correct In my observation. The people I see throwing a fit: white, American, male. Complaining about “liberal Hollywood” and “pc culture” and “sjws” all because rihanna got casted instead of, idk, emma Watson or something. I’m not talking about all white people, I’m not saying anyone is racist, I just know the group of people who will upset about this.

          • If you’re saying that I just proved your point then I’m curious how that is, if not then sorry for misunderstanding you. I see your point and I agree with it (I’m not American so I can’t talk for them though). Yes I have a problem with “SJWs” and “PC culture” but I think we both have a different opinion of what that means. If someone outright said “we cast Rihanna because she’s black and we were scared of being called racist if we didn’t” then I’d have a problem with that, but they didn’t say that. I personally don’t care about her ethnicity, I just don’t like her music and think it’s massively overrated, and I have a problem with pop stars getting cast in horror movies/TV series. I was pissed when Gaga got cast in AHS but she ended up being quite good in the end and it proved me wrong, hopefully Rihanna will do the same.

Honestly I’m that sick of having my “privilege checked” and reading the same anti-straight-white-male arguments that I forgot people were getting pissed at different sexes/ethnicities getting cast in film roles.

          • Bla Blah

but they didn’t cast rihanna because she was black. The film industry doesn’t work like that and never has. However that is the excuse those very same “anti-PC, anti-SJW” white guys always claim. And why is that? Because they aren’t being catered on these few occasions so they through a fit.
That said, you are getting “triggered” over your view of what I’m saying, not what I’m actually saying. I’m not saying all whites, or all white straight men are racist, sexist, bigots. I’m specifically talking about the ones who will get upset over this for no other reason than the fact that Rihanna is black playing a white character. Here’s a great example. Bloody Disgusting just uploaded the trailer for the new death note lvie action movie. Death Note. The entire original cast was Asian. Now it’s white, with the exception of ONE black character. Who do you think those white guys are upset about? The cast of other white guys playing Asians, or the one black guy? Go to every comment section about it and they will tell you how they feel. THAT’S what I’m talking about. And I love that shit like this gets them upset. Because they are silent when Hollywood whitewashes roles, doesn’t fund productions all because the main character doesn’t fit the target audience, but god forbid they get a little teeny tiny taste of that, then they throw a fit. That’s what I’m talking about, nothing more, nothing less.

          • I know you’re not generalising all whites, or straight white males, you’re just bringing up the race issue in a place that it isn’t necessary or wanted, and that’s my problem. Just like the Death Note post you’ve mentioned, I can’t see a single person complaining about a black actor anywhere on that post. Maybe you’re seeing these comments elsewhere and it annoys you, and that makes perfect sense.

I just come to sites like Bloody Disgusting to discuss horror with other horror fans, it’s one of the rare places on the Internet where I can rant about movies without it being about isms/phobics and that’s why I like it

          • Bla Blah

Well you are the one who replied. I made an observation. You could have simply ignored me and kept it moving. You don’t want to hear whatever I have to say? The beauty of the internet: Walk away.
And I hope that doesn’t sound aggressive. I’m just saying you are acting like I came to you with something. I didn’t.

          • PsychoMantis18

Allow me to make an issue about her skin colour – it doesn’t annoy you that they cast a black actor as part of the PC-push? There is clearly motive in their casting outside of her being a pop-star.

          • If that’s the reason she’s cast then yeah I definitely have a problem with it, but at the same time I can’t stand the other side of the PC brigade that feel like they have to gallantly defend black people by pointing out that white people are bitter when black actors get cast.

I just fucking hate the PC generation altogether

          • PsychoMantis18

            Couldn’t agree more.

  • Nahuel Benvenuto

    lmao

  • Dan

I read she got the part because she’s a fan of the show, pretty simple & zero conspiracy theories involved.

  • Marcin Robakowski

cheap joke incoming: seems she has forgotten her “umbrella, ella, ella” 😀

  • ForskinCutter

    RiRi would kick Norman’s ass

  • PsychoMantis18

Well if I didn’t already have a reason to hate this show, now I got one; casting a black pop-star who can’t act screams PC profit-based casting. Not to mention the fact that everyone will be watching Rihanna, not the character.
