Trailer for Ridley Scott-Produced ‘Phoenix Forgotten’ Uncovers Truth About UFOs

Published

on

In the spring of 1997, several residents of Phoenix, Arizona witnessed mysterious lights in the sky. This phenomenon, which became known as “The Phoenix Lights,” remains the most documented UFO sighting in American history. Director Justin Barber’s Phoenix Forgotten draws inspiration from the real-life event, and it’s headed to theaters on April 21st.

Ahead of the release, the official trailer has arrived today. Yes, this is another found footage horror movie. And yes, other horror movies have already used the infamous “Phoenix Lights” incident as a source of inspiration. But with Ridley Scott producing, we’re hoping there’s a bit more to this one than meets the eye; at the moment, it feels like a movie we’ve already seen.

Check out the new trailer below, via EW.

On July 23, 1997, three high school student filmmakers went missing while camping in the desert outside Phoenix. The purpose of their trip was to document their investigation into the Phoenix Lights. They were never seen again. Twenty years later, Sarah Bishop, a documentary filmmaker and younger sibling of one of the missing, returns to Phoenix to delve into the their disappearances and the emotional trauma left on those that knew them. Nothing can prepare her for the shocking discovery of a tape from the night her brother and his friends disappeared.

Luke Roberts, Chelsea Lopez, Justin Matthews, and Florance Hartigan star.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

Sightings have been on the rise since the 1940s, with the atomic bomb seemingly acting as a catalyst for new visitors. But what are these UFOs/UAPs? Is there an explanation or are they simply beyond our explanation? Why are they here? Who are they? How much do our governments know? The questions are endless and so are the documentaries that attempt to uncover the secrets behind decades of sightings and alleged confrontations.
