Here’s Where You Can See ‘The Void’ in Theaters This Weekend

If you love practical effects, you are going to love The Void.

One of the best horror films you can rent on VOD right now is unquestionably The Void, which I can best describe as “The Thing meets Hellraiser.” A throwback to ’80s monster movies, the latest from Jeremy Gillespie and Steven Kostanski features some of the craziest practical effects I’ve seen in a long time. It dropped my jaw on a handful of occasions, I can tell ya that much.

The Void hit limited theaters here in the States last weekend, netting an estimated $55,000 in its 31-location opening weekend. We’re happy to report that the film is expanding to more theaters around the country this weekend. Again, you can rent it on VOD if you’d prefer to stay home, but this is damn sure the kind of movie that would be a lot of fun to watch with an audience.

Check out the new locations below and find full listings on the film’s official website.

In The Void

Officer Daniel Carter happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road while he’s in the middle of a routine patrol. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that patients and personnel are transforming into something inhuman. As the horror intensifies, Carter leads the other survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it’s too late.

Written and directed by Gillespie and Kostanski of Astron-6, the film stars Aaron Poole, Ellen Wong, Kathleen Munroe, Stephanie Belding, and Kenneth Welsh.

THE VOID

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
