New ‘The Mummy’ Featurette Highlights the Greatness of Tom Cruise
“The Mummy is gonna have great action and real thrills,” promises Cruise.
Personal worries about it being a bit too action-oriented aside, it’s pretty damn cool that Tom Cruise is starring in a Universal monster movie. Cruise is of course playing the heroic Nick Morton in next month’s The Mummy, set for release on June 9th. And like most of his movies, Cruise did many of his own stunts for the reboot. They’re the subject of a brand new featurette video.
Alex Kurtzman directed The Mummy.
Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
The cast also includes Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Russell Crowe and Courtney B. Vance (TV’s “American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson”).
