You Can Now Buy ‘Beyond the Gates’ on VHS!

Now this is just perfect.

Earlier this month, Scream Factory released director Jackson Stewart’s throwback horror flick Beyond The Gates (read our review) on DVD and Blu-ray. The film, which stars a brilliantly cast Barbara Crampton as the host of a VHS board game from the ’80s, would probably best be enjoyed on, well, VHS, and we’re happy to report that you can now experience that pleasure.

The folks over at Lo-Fi Video have just offered up a limited batch of a mere 50 VHS copies of Beyond the Gates, which come on a purple tape. You can grab one for $30 while they last!

Thanks to Lunchmeat for the heads up!

Featuring horror legend Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator, From Beyond), Beyond the Gates is a retro-cool tale of hex, dies, and videotape from director Jackson Stewart.

After their father’s unexplained disappearance, two estranged brothers – responsible Gordon (Graham Skipper) and reckless John (Chase Williamson) – reunite to sift through the contents of his stubbornly anachronistic VHS rental store. Among the inventory, they find an old interactive VCR board game. Intrigued, the brothers pop in the tape… and soon discover that this video is no ordinary game, but a portal to a nightmarish alternate reality, one with deadly consequences for anyone who dares to press ‘play.’

Matt Mercer (Contracted), Justin Welborn (FX’s “Justified”, The Signal, V/H/S/ Viral), Henry LeBlanc (“The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”), Jesse Merlin (FDR: American Badass), David Bruckner (co-director of V/H/S, The Signal), Sara Malakul Lane (Kickboxer: Vengeance, Sunchoke) and Pierson Ryan (“Red Team Go”) round out the cast.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.
