Never stop being Nic Cage, Nic Cage.
Deadline reports this morning that Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in Mandy, an action thriller being helmed by Beyond the Black Rainbow director Panos Cosmatos. The project is being produced by SpectreVision, Elijah Wood’s genre label that has given us recent gems such as A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night and The Greasy Strangler.
Mandy is set in the primal wilderness of 1983 where Red Miller, a broken and haunted man, hunts an unhinged religious sect who slaughtered the love of his life.
SpectreVision’s Daniel Noah describes the film as a “surrealist, heavy-metal-soaked story of battle axes and demon bikers,” which is really all we need to hear.
The film is in pre-production and set to shoot this summer in Belgium.
Mandy is being produced by Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller and Elijah Wood, XYZ Films’ Nate Bolotin and Umedia’s Adrian Politowski and exec produced by Nick Spicer, Lisa Whalen, Todd Brown, Martin Metz, Peter Bevan, Christopher Figg and Robert Whitehouse.
