A Blast From The Past! ‘Unholy Night’ Now Available for the SNES

What’s this? A new SNES game?! Your eyes don’t deceive you, as Foxbat’s Unholy Night: The Darkness Hunter is now available in North America. Previously available in Japan, the game was developed by ex-SNK employees who had previously worked on the Samurai Shodown and The King of Fighters series, so naturally, it’s a fighting game.

The game revolves around a group of monster hunters who have dedicated their lives to exterminating vampires, werewolves, and other things that go bump in the night. Each fighter has eight special moves at their disposal, as well as super moves that makes use of a three-level meter. When the fighter’s health is low, they gain bonuses similar to desperation moves from older arcade fighting games.

While it obviously isn’t going to be on the level of Guilty Gear or the newer King of Fighters games, it’s still a cool thing to see developers trying their hand at creating games for hardware from back in the day.
