The “Mr. Mercedes” Trailer is Like “Mr. Robot” Taken Over by Jigsaw

An alcoholic ex-detective (Brendan Gleeson) finds new life when a mass murderer resurfaces in the small screen adaptation of Stephen King’s 2014 novel “Mr. Mercedes”, which is headed to the AT&T Audience Network on Wednesday, August 9th. Said to be in the vein of “Mr. Robot” with elements of horror, the series follows an ex-detective (Brendan Gleeson) who is pulled out of retirement to hunt down a mass murderer from years prior.

The official trailer looks like “Mr. Robot” only if it were taken over by Jigsaw. It looks like a dark and demented new series with a whole lot of hacking (both kinds)!

Brendan Gleeson as Detective Bill Hodges, along with Harry Treadaway (Penny Dreadful) as Brady Hartsfield. Jharrel Jerome (Moonlight) is cast as Jerome Robinson, Scott Lawrence (Avatar) as Detective Peter Dixon, Robert Stanton (Mercury Rising) as Anthony “Robi” Frobisher, and Ann Cusack (Nightcrawler) as Olivia Trelawney, with Mary Louise-Parker (Weeds) as Janey Patterson, and Holland Taylor (The Truman Show) as Ida Silver. Kelly Lynch (Deborah Hartsfield), Justine Lupe (Holly Gibney) and Breeda Wool (Lou Linklatter) also star. King himself will appear in a cameo role.

“Mr. Mercedes” follows demented killer Brady Hartsfield (Treadaway), who taunts a retired police detective Bill Hodges (Gleeson) with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

David E. Kelley wrote the adaptation, produced by Sonar Entertainment. Jack Bender directs. Both executive produce along with Temple Hill Entertainment’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.

‘Trelawney’ that was a character in ‘Christine’ right?

i know IMDB many times is incorrect with cast info/number of eps an actor/actress will appear in but currently on IMDB’s for this show has Gleeson, Treadaway, Mary Louise, etc. etc. only listed for 1 episode each while other actors/actresses are listed for all 8. weird.
either way this show looks pretty good!

Anton Yelchin looks good as ‘Guy Run Over By Car #4″.

Not cool. I think Anton Yelchin would have been great in this, I didn’t remember he was going to play the killer.

no one cares about your edgy, insensitive comments.

Oh I forgot about those things called sensitive jokes….whatever the fuck those are.

a joke has to be funny tho…

This looks good, but I don’t see what’s the similarity with Mr. Robot besides the hacking. By the way, Mr. Robot is amazing.
