There isn’t a more dangerous job in the entertainment industry than being a stuntman/woman, which requires putting your life on the line every day in order to give us, the viewers, awesome shots that most people would never dare take part in.
Today we’re sad to report that “The Walking Dead” stuntman John Bernecker has suffered a serious injury on the Season 8 set, which has led to the production being temporarily halted.
“We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set,” AMC said in a statement. “He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital, and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
Deadline notes that Bernecker suffered a serious head injury after falling 30 feet to a concrete floor.
Bernecker’s career as a stuntman dates back to 2009 and includes work on Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Old Boy, Goosebumps, The Last Witch Hunter and Logan.
