R.I.P. ‘The Devil Inside’ Actor Evan Helmuth
Sad news today, as we’ve learned that actor Evan Helmuth, known to horror fans for playing Father David Keane in 2012’s The Devil Inside, has passed away. Helmuth, who was just 40 years old, died Monday of complications from a stroke.
Evan Helmuth’s acting career began with a role in the 1999 film Self Storage, and he subsequently appeared in The United States of Leland, Garfield, Fever Pitch, Commander and Chief, and Jobs. On the horror front, Helmuth also appeared in the 2004 horror-comedy Dead & Breakfast.
“Evan was the warmest, most generous soul imaginable,” said producer/longtime friend Josh Applebaum. “His passion for this industry was only outweighed by his passion for his friends. We met over 20 years ago at USC, where Evan was an instant lightning rod on the stage. He loved his craft, he loved entertaining audiences and he was as good as it gets at both. (He also loved PEARL JAM!!!). His life and legacy will never be forgotten by the countless broken hearts around Los Angeles tonight.”
