Ed Skrein the Latest to Join the ‘Hellboy’ Reboot

Director Neil Marshall’s Hellboy, a reboot of the franchise, has assembled quite an impressive cast so far, and the latest to come on board is Deadpool star Ed Skrein.

THR reports today that Skrein is currently in negotiations to join the cast of Lionsgate and Millennium’s Hellboy reboot.

He will play Major Ben Daimio, a rugged military member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense who, due to a supernatural encounter, can turn into a jaguar when angered or in pain.

The cast also includes David Harbour as Hellboy; Milla Jovovich as the film’s villain; Ian McShane as Professor Broom; and Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan.

The new story sees the hero squaring off against a medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy humankind.

Aron Coleite is working on the latest draft of a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin and Mike Richardson are the producers. Hellboy is being executive produced by Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman, and Carl Hampe.

Look for the new film in 2018.

Da fuq? Why a reboot whilst the franchise could have been nicely concluded with another Ron Pearlman movie?

    The one true Daario.

    A fucking jaguar?

While they’re at it, they should just name it Francis.

First Deadpool, now Hellboy. This guy is pissing off all the wrong superheroes.

He was so painfully dull and lifeless in Deadpool its impossible to care about this news.

after the initial casting announcements of Harbour and McShane every other role has gone to painfully generic and mediocre actors.

Wasn’t Daimio supposed to be Asian ? I would have loved to see Benedict Wong in that role :/

It’s going to be hard to watch this and not constantly think about Ron Perlman and Del Toro. I’m not really that interested in seeing it. The trailer (as much as I hate watching trailers) will make or break my decision on whether or not I’ll see this.

I avoided the Amazing Spiderman like the plague after seeing those trailers. I should’ve avoided Homecoming too, but that’s a different story for another day.

Another who didn’t think much of Homecoming. You and me both.

Homecoming is a straight up Disney Channel movie. My nieces (under ten) who love Spiderman couldn’t stand Homecoming either. Homecoming is by far the most overrated movie of the summer. I’ll stick with Raimi’s Spiderman 1 and 2. Spiderman 2 being my favorite.

I love the character of Spider-Man but what I didn’t like about Homecoming was all the extra crap from Tony Stark. A Spider-suit AI that gives him advice about scenarios and even dating. Rapid fire web shooters, electro web shooters, reconnaissance mode blah blah blah. Spider-Man needs only 2 things, his spider senses and web shooters. All the other retarded crap made it seem like Iron Man instead of Spider Man.

        Homecoming was fantastic.
