Stephen King Praises Netflix’s ‘1922’ for Creeping Him Out

So many new Stephen King adaptations are headed our way that it’s honestly become hard to keep track. In the wake of this weekend’s IT, Mike Flanagan’s Gerald’s Game arrives on Netflix later this month, and it’ll be followed by Netflix’s 1922 on October 20.

The film is an adaptation of Stephen King’s 2010 novella, published in the collection Full Dark, No Stars. Speaking with Yahoo this week, King revealed that he has seen it, and he says that it creeped him out so much he can’t get it off his mind.

The one you want to watch for is, Netflix did an adaptation of 1922 from Full Dark, No Stars,” King told the site. “I think that’s going to be out in October or something, and man, I saw a rough cut of that and it won’t leave my mind. That is super creepy!

Thomas Jane (The Punisher, The Mist) and Molly Parker (The 9th Life of Louis Drax, The Road) star in the adaptation with Dylan Schmid, Kaitlyn Bernard, Brian D’Arcy James and Neal McDonough.

“1922 is based on Stephen King’s 131-page storytelling of a man’s confession of his wife’s murder. The tale is told from the perspective of Wilfred James, the story’s unreliable narrator who admits to killing his wife, Arlette, with his son in Nebraska. But after he buries her body, he finds himself terrorized by rats and, as his life begins to unravel, becomes convinced his wife is haunting him.”

1922 was directed by Zak Hilditch (These Final Hours), who also adapted the novella.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

In addition to Leigh Whannell’s upcoming Universal Monsters movie Wolf Man, Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel) has also joined the cast of Weapons, THR has announced tonight.

Weapons is the new horror movie from New Line Cinema and director Zach Cregger (Barbarian), with Julia Garner joining the previously announced Josh Brolin (Dune 2).

The upcoming Weapons is from writer/director Zach Cregger, who will also produce alongside his Barbarian producing team: Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon also produces.

The Hollywood Reporter teases, “Plot details for Weapons are being kept holstered but it is described as a multi and inter-related story horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

Cregger was a founding member and writer for the New York comedy troupe “The Whitest Kids U’Know,” which he started while attending The School of Visual Arts. The award-winning group’s self-titled sketch comedy show ran for five seasons on IFC-TV and Fuse. He was also a series regular on Jimmy Fallon’s NBC series “Guys with Kids” and the TBS hit series “Wrecked,” and was featured in a recurring role on the NBC series “About a Boy.”

Weapons will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
