Director Reveals Bloody ‘New Mutants’ Logo as Filming Nears Completion

We cannot wait to see what Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) does with New Mutants, which has been promised to bring a good deal of terror into the Marvel Universe. The project has been described as “a full-fledged horror film,” and the official logo reflects that. It’s splattered in blood, which is quite uncommon for a superhero movie.

This photo of a New Mutants clapboard comes from Boone himself, who reveals that filming will complete this week, just about two months after it began.

The cast includes Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa a.k.a Sunspot, a mutant with the ability to absorb and channel solar power; Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar, the Native American telepath also known as “Mirage”; Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a medical doctor who has the ability to generate a protective bio-field around herself but also has more going on than she lets on; Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin, also known as Magik, who uses teleportation; Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie, a.k.a. Cannonball; and Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair, a.k.a. Wolfsbane, who can turn into a wolf.

Boone is helming from a script he co-wrote with Knate Lee about teenage superheroes-mutants being held against their will.

New Mutants has been set for an April 13, 2018 opening.

Love Illyana! All that Limbo story is pretty horrifying when we remember what actually happened to her…

  • Very retro and comic-seque. I like it.

  • Darkhearst

Whoa, I had no idea this was so close to actually happening. I wasn’t even convinced it would get made.

  • Ocelot006 .

Glad Fox, who was once making PG-13 Die Hard movies, has now turned into the only major studio with balls.

Hopefully more studios will start to understand that just because PG-13 means more people can go, doesn’t mean more people will go. We can all already foresee that this will outgrow Fantastic Four.

    • Saturn

Hopefully they can give us at least one hard R rated Die Hard movie to get the franchise back on track.

I think IT last weekend will help more than just horror movies and certainly Deadpool did amazingly well.

  • J Jett

i’m excited for this movie! it’s just going to be refreshing/great to have an X-MEN-ish film that’s not from Bryan Singer (no offense to Singer. i’m just tired of him and Jennifer Lawrence/Michael Fassbender/James Macavoy). Anya Taylor-Joy, Masie Williams & Alice Braga? HELL YES!

    • SutterKane

I’m with you on Singer. I like the majority of work he’s done in this franchise but it’s due time for some new voices over there.

      • J Jett

        absolutely! 🙂

    • BreeBennett

He made a great work with the first two X-Men movies but then he lost his way.

  • Lady Bathory

That just sounds sooooo good! I can’t wait to see this film! A superhero horror film is a blend of two genres I love, so I’m really excited. Also Anya Taylor-Joy is amazing.

  • KSE1977

If they keep this hard R, then I am pretty excited. We saw with Deadpool what happens when they let movies get made the way they should. Then again this could always end up being another Fantastic Four.

  • Khy

I guess they weren’t lying about the horror angle.

  • Black Panther

That logo gives me high hopes for the movie. They said it’s gonna be 80s style horror and the logo actually looks like an 80s style horror comic adaptation. Now make sure it’s a hard R and not due to Deadpool like fart jokes but horror!

    • marklola12 .

yeh but most of 80s horror was not horror or scary and it was just about how many deaths you can have in a movie lol
