Fede Alvarez Finds His ‘Girl in the Spider’s Web’ in Claire Foy

Not only is Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe director Fede Alvarez taking over for the continuing adventures of Lisbeth Salander, but he’s also bringing a brand new version of the character to the screen for his The Girl in the Spider’s Web. Why, you ask?

As Alvarez explained earlier this year, “It’s said that 50% of the director’s work is casting. If I’d just take Fincher’s (amazing) casting, I wouldn’t be doing half of my job.”

With that out of the way, we’ve just learned today that Alvarez has found his new Lisbeth in Golden Globe winner Claire Foy (“The Crown”)!

I couldn’t be more thrilled about Claire taking the reins of the iconic Lisbeth Salander,” Alvarez said in a statement. “Claire is an incredible, rare talent who will inject a new and exciting life into Lisbeth. I can’t wait to bring this new story to a worldwide audience, with Claire Foy at its center.”

In the film, an adaptation of David Lagercrantz’s novel…

“Young computer hacker Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist find themselves caught in a web of spies, cybercriminals and corrupt government officials.”

Alvarez co-wrote with Steven Knight and Jay Basu.

David Fincher will executive produce the new film, headed our way October 19, 2018.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

As someone who is obsessed with UFOS (or more recently known as UAPs) and the concept of extraterrestrials, I love a good documentary. Sightings have been on the rise since the 1940s, with the atomic bomb seemingly acting as a catalyst for new visitors. But what are these UFOs/UAPs? Is there an explanation or are they simply beyond our explanation? Why are they here? Who are they? How much do our governments know? The questions are endless and so are the documentaries that attempt to uncover the secrets behind decades of sightings and alleged confrontations.

Whether you’re a seasoned viewer or new to the rabbit hole, there’s always a handful of interesting documentaries to get your neurons firing and leave you with sleepless nights.
