Fox CEO Says ‘The Predator’ is “Unexpected and Utterly Fresh”
Get ready for a whole new take on the Predator franchise.
It’s been a while since we’ve had anything substantial to report about Shane Black’s The Predator, set for release in 2018. What can we expect from the film? Speaking with Variety this week, 20th Century Fox CEO Stacey Snider promised a fresh franchise reboot.
“We’ve got a Predator film coming out that is unexpected and utterly fresh,” Snider told the site. “I just imagined that it would take 500 hours to read the script — that it would be interior jungle, exterior more jungle and then fighting happens, but Emma [Watts] went out and recruited Shane Black. From the first page, it didn’t read like a Predator film.”
Snider also confirmed the film’s rumored setting, noting that “it’s set in suburbia. There’s a little boy and his dad at the center of the action.”
The movie features a group of unsuspecting humans who slowly realize that fierce hunter-aliens are in their midst, this time in a suburban setting.
Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Edward James Olmos, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Jake Busey, Augusto Aguilera, Alfie Allen and Yvonne Strahovski all star.
Black directed from a script he co-wrote with Fred Dekker.
Fox will hunt The Predator on August 3, 2018.
