Fede Alvarez Casts Sylvia Hoeks in ‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’

We learned earlier in the year that Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe director Fede Alvarez is taking over for the continuing adventures of Lisbeth Salander, kicking off the new iteration of the series with next year’s adaptation of The Girl in the Spider’s Web. Claire Foy has been cast as our new Lisbeth, and the cast grows this week.

Variety is reporting that Blade Runner 2049 star Sylvia Hoeks is in talks to join Foy in the film. Hoeks will play Salander’s evil twin, the site goes on to note.

In the film, an adaptation of David Lagercrantz’s novel…

“Young computer hacker Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist find themselves caught in a web of spies, cybercriminals and corrupt government officials.”

Alvarez co-wrote with Steven Knight and Jay Basu.

David Fincher will executive produce the new film, headed our way October 19, 2018.

“an evil twin”?! Christ this is fanfic isn’t it?
Also I have no clue as to how they are using Claire Foy as Lisbeth, maybe the costume+make-up will change her considerably but just looking at her other work I just don’t see it.

Could you see Mara being Salander after The Social Network or Tanner Hall? … I definitely could not, and she blew my mind. I’m giving Claire the benefit of the doubt.
And I don’t think Hoeks is playing the evil twin, Camila is not part of the 5th book.
      I could be wrong tho.

Perfection in casting in my humble opinion. I understand the doubters, but if you knew of Noomi Rapace or Rooney Mara before they played Lisbeth you probably doubted their casting too.

Noomi and Rooney, Roomy and Looney, they knew me the Goonie…

Weird how it has taken them so long for this follow up.
