If you were worried that Adult Swim wouldn’t be moving forward with new episodes of “Rick and Morty”, they’ve exceeded expectations by announcing a whopping 70-episode order.
Variety explains that the order is part of a new overall deal the network has signed with series creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. The new deal will more than double the amount of episodes the series has currently aired.
For those unacquainted, “Rick and Morty” is Adult Swim’s most scientifically accurate animated comedy. Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, it catalogues the bizarre misadventures of a bored scientific genius/drunkard and his socially awkward grandson, Morty. Their exploits tend to have unintended consequences for Morty’s dysfunctional family, especially his unfailingly mediocre father, Jerry.
Harmon and Roiland announced they were going back to work on the series in a video posted on Roiland and Harmon’s Instagram accounts, which featured the comic pair showering together in Harmon’s home.
It could be a long wait until we see new episodes, probably until at least 2019.
