Despite its lukewarm reviews, Undead Labs’ State of Decay 2 keeps trucking. Microsoft have announced via blog post that the game has broken the 2 million players mark in less than two weeks since the game’s global launch on May 22nd. This is on top of the 1 million player milestone the game reached within the first two days of its launch.
The thing to keep in mind is that State of Decay 2 has not sold two million copies, however. The game is available for free to Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Still, the fact that two million players have been active in the game so far is a positive. According to the blog post, players have collectively killed almost 2 billion zombies while managing to stay alive for an average of three days within the game.
The game recently had a huge update as well (20GB), which addresses many of the bugs that were the cause of frustration for many players, as well as gameplay refining and “quality of life improvements”. You can read up on the patch here.
