Sometimes a director blasts out a masterpiece and then fades into the sunset, other times they produce more and more phenomenal films that entertain until the end of time. Intermedia has set Joel Bergvall and Simon Sandquist (“The Invisible”) to direct “Fear Itself,” a supernatural thriller about a detective who finds a string of victims murdered under circumstances dictated by their worst fears.
Tony Jaswinski has been tapped to rewrite the script. Gina Matthews and Cary Brokaw are producing, with exec Alex Litvak overseeing.
The producer-financier also is getting a rewrite on “Sleepwalker,” the English-language remake of the Swedish thriller about a sleepwalking man who awakens to find his family missing and his bed bloody. Michael Gilvary will write the new draft. Mark Johnson is producing, and Intermedia’s Lindsey Dold and Alison Haskovec are overseeing.
Intermedia is bullish on getting both pictures into production, said Intermedia Motion Picture Group prexy Scott Kroopf. “These are two terrific genre films, the kind of moderately budgeted, commercially oriented material Intermedia wants to do,” he said.
