Very similar to the excellent Black Christmas was a 1979 horror pic by Columbia Pictures entitled When a Sranger Calls, which is now being developed for a remake by Sony Screen Gems, according to Variety. Jake Wade Wall penned the remake of the 1979 Columbia Pictures cult horror pic, starring Carol Kane as a high-school student traumatized while babysitting by a caller who repeatedly asks, “Have you checked the children lately?” After notifying the police, she is told that the calls are coming from inside the house.
Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and Wyck Godfrey are producing along with Ken Lemberger.
West directed Angelina Jolie in Paramount’s “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.” He’s currently helming the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced pilot “American Crime” at CBS; he previously teamed with Bruckheimer on Sony’s “Black Hawk Down,” which he exec produced.
