UPDATED: Can Anything Save ‘Ring Two’? Tons of DVD News!

UPDATED SPECS INSIDE: After suffering through the terrible, and I mean terrible, The Ring Two (review #1, #2), I don’t know if I could ever make it through the movie again- even if Dreamworks is releasing the DVD on August 23rd unrated. Today DVD Answers adds to our announcement of the date, “The 1 hour 49 minute theatrical edition will be available in full frame only, along with both English Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo Surround tracks. The unrated edition (runtime to be confirmed) will include the same audio options, although it will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen instead.” Check out the DVD art here. Also announced for the same date is Universal’s Ringu Anthology of Terror, which includes the four internationally acclaimed Japanese films that helped reinvent the horror genre. Ringu, Rasen, Ringu 2 and Ringu 0. Check out more details and kick ass art over at DVD Answers.
DVD Answers continues their coverage:

The unrated edition (runtime to be confirmed) will include the same audio options, although it will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen instead. Extras will include a short film entitled ‘Rings’ [which RULES] which uncovers the terrifying and secret connection between The Ring and The Ring Two, deleted scenes, a new Fear on Film: Special Effects featurette, a Power of Symbols featurette which looks at how symbolic imagery was used to heighten the film’s chilling emotional impact, and much more.
