SOTA Toys announces their third Now Playing mini-bust, which will be from John Carpenter’s classic The Thing and depicts the ‘Spider-Head Thing’ that tried to escape by detaching itself from the dying Norris’ body. Approximately 4″ tall and 7″ wide, this resin figures comes on a black base to display on (base not shown)! With an SRP of $45, Now Playing’s The Thing Spider-Head resin statue will be released in the Fall of 2005.! Read on for a look at the figure…

  • Amazing Looking Freddy Krueger Mini Bust

    NECA first announced this line at Toy Fair and now they are ready to reveal some details. NECA's Horror Mini Busts will start shipping around June of this year. Expect to see all of your Horror genre favorites with a new Mini Bust introduced every 4-6 weeks. Each Mini Bust is made of Resin and features insane amounts of detail along with bases that are specific to each character. These bust will be limited editions. Freddy Krueger will be the first Bust in this new series. Freddy features a removable hat, a boiler base, and a real metal glove that attaches to the base.   • Amazing Michael Myers Mini Bust on the Way

    NECA is pouring on the news today with announcements prepping us for the upcoming New York Toy Fair. NECA writes, "Sculpted by Kyle Windrix and Ray Santoleri, with paint by Ed Repka, expect a release of Late Spring 2005 for Michael. Coming in at almost 8" tall, Myers will sport the usual cool features of this line, from an awesome movie direct likeness, to cool removable accessories, like the butcher knife. However, we hope to add yet another innovation to the world of Mini-Busts with Michael Myers.   • Weekend Freeze: Stranger Goes Head-to-Head w/the Superbowl

    With two new films arriving in wide release (Sony Screen Gems' When a Stranger Calls in 2,999 theaters and Focus Features' Something New in 1,266), the pickings will be slim at the boxoffice this Super Bowl weekend -- at least in terms of fresh product. But in the wake of Tuesday's Academy Award nominations, there will be a host of major expansions, with all four best picture nominees that are still in the marketplace ratcheting up theater counts to near or above the 1,000-venue level. The Super Bowl traditionally has the largest impact on Sunday, the day of the game and the slowest moviegoing day of the weekend. But parties and other game-related events are spread throughout the weekend, so there is some impact on the other days. Hollywood usually counterprograms during the weekend of the big game, attempting to lure those who are not interested in the Super Bowl to theaters. This year is no exception. Screen Gems' "When a Stranger Calls," produced by Davis Entertainment, is one of those counterprogramming offerings. The PG-13 horror-thriller, an update of the 1979 film, arrives Friday in 2,999 theaters. Prerelease tracking shows that "Stranger" should be the frame's top-grossing film. Also hitting theaters is City Lights' horror pic Tamara in 14 theaters.
