Even More Unlucky: ‘The Woods’ Fights “R” Rating

Things are sounding more and more damaged when it comes to Lucky McKee’s The Woods, which is once again sitting without a release date. As we reported a few days ago the film is now owned by Sony Screen Gems, who acquired from United Artists- but things are getting thick over at Sony. Read on for the details. Lucky McKee’s The Woods stars Patricia Clarkson, Agnes Bruckner, Bruce Campbell, Lauren Birkell, Jane Gilchrist, Emma Campbell, Gordon Currie and Rachel Nichols…
Apparently Screen Gems wants to release the rated “R” film as a “PG-13″, but there’s a major problem. According to our reliable anonymous scooper, I’m not exactly sure what the exact phrase is, but there’s some sort of ongoing remark about one of the characters having “fire in her crotch” or something to that effect that causes the film to get the “R” rating, and without the phrase it ruins some sort of aspect of the film. How this will e resolved is beyond us and our scooper- so I guess we’ll have to sit back and cross our fingers for good ol’ Lucky McKee. I can’t wait for this one….

The Woods is a psychological horror story that begins when a neglected teenager named Heather (Agnes Bruckner) is dropped off by her parents at a remote all-girls boarding school deep in the forest. Watched over by sinister headmistress Ms. Traverse (Patricia Clarkson) and her staff, Heather is tormented by her classmates and is desperate to go home. But when students start disappearing and she begins to have horrifying visions, Heather realizes things at the school are not what they seem. She only knows there’s something out there in the woods – and it won’t be letting her leave any time soon.
