Crispin Glover Making a Hollywood Comeback?

Crispin Glover (Friday the 13th Part 4), easily one of the most disturbing (and underrated) people on film, is making a big Hollywood comeback as he’s become part of numerous projects in development- and could even end up playing the Joker in the next Batman! It was reported this afternoon that Crispin will re-teaming with Director Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future) by playing the role of Grendel in Sony’s upcoming adaptation of Beowulf. The oldest written English language myth. A Scandinavian warrior takes on the legendary monster, Grendel. Read on for details…
Fangoria reports:

Veteran actor Crispin Glover has been chosen to play the flamboyant, over-the-top role of Grendel in Robert Zemeckis’ adaptation of the epic poem BEOWULF, which is currently in active preproduction and slated for a 2007 release.

“I just went in this week to read for the part,” Glover told Fango this past weekend on the set of his latest horror film, SIMON SAYS. “It isn’t finalized at this point, but it all seems to be going real well.”

In BEOWULF, scripted by genre veterans Roger (PULP FICTION) Avary and Neil (SANDMAN) Gaiman and to be created through the CGI/motion-capture technology Zemeckis used on POLAR EXPRESS, Grendel is an alternately violent and lustful foe of the warrior Beowulf, and Glover sees a lot of potential in the role. “From an acting point of view, it will allow me to do a lot of different things,” he says. “I can show a lot of facets and different sides of this character’s personality. This is definitely a good role. I don’t see anything negative about it.”

This will not be the first time Glover and Zemeckis have worked together. The actor, best known to genre fans for his roles in WILLARD (pictured) and FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE FINAL CHAPTER, played George McFly in the filmmaker’s 1985 fantasy/comedy smash BACK TO THE FUTURE.
