‘Doom’ Blasts Away the Competition

Despite negative press, this weekend Universal Pictures’ Doom (review #1, #2) destroyed the competition by pulling in an estimated $15,382,000 for the #1 spot at the box office. DreamWork’s horse film Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story took the #2 spot with only $9,300,000. Warner Bros. North County opened very weak at the #5 spot pulling in only $6,470,000. 20th Century Fox’s under promoted film Stay (review) flopped by opening at the #13 spot pulling in only $2,150,000. The two Halloween films, Wallace and Grommit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and The Fog (review #1, #2) both held strong respectively at the #3 and #4 spots. For the full results click here.
