‘Chicken Little’ Scores Big, ‘Saw II’ Still Sharp

The sky is still falling in Hollywood, even though Chicken Little and the Marines have landed. The boxoffice tumbled again despite solid weekends for the animated Chicken Little, which debuted with about $40.1 million, and the Desert Storm drama Jarhead (review), which opened with roughly $28.8 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. Lions Gate Films’ Saw II (review #1, #2) pulled in another $17,200,000 for a whopping total of $60,468,000 in only two weeks. Upcoming releases include Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, King Kong and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Click here for the full box office numbers.
