Weekend Freeze: Let the Luther King Jr. War Begin!!!

The upcoming four-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend is shaping up to be a competitive one, with four new wide releases going against a plethora of holdovers that are still reaping respectable returns at the boxoffice. First we’ll see Buena Vista’s basketball movie Glory Road opening in 2,222 theaters; then there’s Paramount Pictures’ comedy Last Holiday, which opens in 2,514; and last is 20th Century Fox’s romance film Tristan and Isolde, which opens in 1,800+ theaters. WeinsteinCo’s Hoodwinked expands into over 2,000 theaters tomorrow. Can Lionsgate’s Hostel, (review #1, #2), Buena Vista’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe or Universal Pictures’ King Kong (review #1, #2) keep alive?
