Today the official website for New Line Cinema’s Final Destination 3 launches, and we know it’s going to be one hell of a ride (no pun intended). They’ve informed us that they are pulling all stops to make the website an experience on it’s own, and if that sweet Flash intro wasnt a clue of how bad ass the site will be, then I don’t know what would be. Inside you’ll not only find details on what you’ll find on the website, but you’ll also find a very special montage that New Line edited together featuring kills from all three Final Destination films, which means you might catch a glimpse at a new kill or two! In addition to that we’ve been provided with a sweet viral e-mail you can send to your friends, or post on message boards that will help you get to know your buddies that much more. Also, keep your eyes open for easter eggs, see if you can find the hidden video clip. Read on for all the goodies and watch Final Destination 3 in theaters everywhere February 10th…

Friday The 13th Clip
Here are some goodies that await you at the official website:
“Send Your Friend on a Ride to Death” personalized video: On our website we will feature a first person video of riding a roller coaster, and the capability to personalize the end with your name and death. We will also have the functionality to send this to a friend. I’d love for you to editorially promote the feature and link through to our site. It will live on
Mobile Ringtones: We will have a mobile area on the official site where users will be able to download “screams” as ring tones for free. I’d for you to promote the feature and link through to our site. It will live on
180 Feature: We also have a special feature on the official site. If you type in 1-8-0 on the site, there’s a special surprise. I can’t tell you what it is, but you can definitely check it out when the official site launches this Friday, 13th. I would love it if you promoted this “hidden feature” as well-possibly in your message boards.
And the “What’s Your Dark Side?” Viral E-mail: We developed a viral e-mail featuring questions designed to reveal a person’s “dark side” by answering a series of questions such as “Do you think you’ve ever cheated death?” The idea is to “get to know your friends better” by answering the questions then sending them to 13 of your friends so you don’t get jinxed with bad luck. Feel free to post on our messege boards, or e-mail it to your friends. Below you’ll find the e-mail:
WHAT’S YOUR DARK SIDE??? WE KNOW YOU HAVE ONE!
Like those e-mails from the past you used to pass along to your friends, these questions dig deep into your “darkside” showcasing creepy thoughts you didn’t know you had. Answer for yourself, then pass your answers along to 13 of your most unlucky friends, including the person who sent this to you, to see how twisted they are! BUT BEWARE! Be ever careful to tell the truth. Lies provoke the darkside, and failure to forward may bring the wrath of Friday the 13th upon you.
1. How often do you think about death?
2. Are you afraid of death?
3. Have you ever had a near death experience? If so, describe it.
4. Do you think you’ve ever cheated death? If so, how?
5. Do you believe death is an actual force or spirit like the devil or grim reaper?
6. Have you ever had a premonition you believe tells you something about your own final moments?
7. Have you ever foreseen the death of someone else (like in a fatal fiery car crash or an airplane tragedy)?
8. If you were on a plane and had a vision it might crash, would you trust that vision and get off? Or would you dismiss it and ride on?
9. Do you believe in fate? If so, do you think you can change it through your own actions?
10. Do you believe in ghosts or spirits who contact us from “the other side”?
11. Do you believe people can truly see the future? Have you been to a psychic you thought to be especially great?
12. Have you ever seen a ghost or contacted a dead loved one?
13. Have you ever felt what you thought to be an evil force or spirit near you? If so, describe your experience.
14. Assuming you could choose, how would you like to die?
15. In your opinion, what’s the worst way to go?
16. What do you think happens to us when we die? What will happen to you?
17. What’s your favorite horror flick? (ie, Final Destination, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, etc…)
18. In your opinion who is the most frightening foe from a film? (ie, the “dark force” in Final Destination, Chucky from Child’s Play,
Jack Nicholson in The Shining, The spirits in Poltergeist, etc…)
“FINAL DESTINATION 3” STRIKES FEAR INTO THE HEARTS OF
ONLINE FANS BEGINNING FRIDAY, JANUARY 13
LOS ANGELES (January12, 2006) – There will be no escaping “FINAL DESTINATION 3” this Friday the 13th, when New Line Cinema launches aggressive online initiatives to promote the upcoming thriller.
“Friday the 13th plays into the key themes of this film — no one can escape death’s design and if you cheat death, it will come back to get you,” said Gordon Paddison, Executive Vice President, Integrated Marketing for New Line Cinema. “Superstitions are very compelling, so all these promotions have some fun with that idea.”
The marketing campaign for this third installment of the “Final Destination” franchise kicked off with a teaser web site and exclusive trailer debut on Apple Quicktime Trailers around the Thanksgiving holiday. That effort generated more than two million trailer views in less than a month and has the fright fans eagerly anticipating the official website launch on Friday, January 13th, at
Fans who enter the official site can board the full-frame roller coaster video after entering their name and birthdate “in case something should happen.” When they exit the site by clicking “let me off!” the video shows the coaster coming off the rails and ends with the visitor’s personalized epitaph.
Taking this one step further, visitors are able to “Send Death To A Friend.” The friend receives an email encouraging them to check out a “wicked coaster crash video.” Upon viewing the end of the video, they are faced with their own personalized epitaph with their name, birthdate and year of death (2006) already filled in.
The web site main content screens have full-frame video backgrounds; on exiting any section, the visitor can view a frightening video tease of one of the film’s character’s death sequences, stopping just before the end is revealed. Visitors can also download free “Screamtones” for their mobile phones, including a selection of the best screams from the film. For the most rabid fans, hidden gems are imbedded in the site for those who dare to look. (Hint: type the number 180 at any point during the website experience and the site will flip over and reveal hidden content.)
The Friday the 13th scares will permeate the web with “FINAL DESTINATION 3” and “death is coming” messaging when New Line Cinema launches programs on targeted niche sites such as Bloody- Disgusting.com, Chud.com, and Horror.com. Many of these sites will also launch a video montage list of things “not to do” on Friday the 13th, based on the ways characters have died in previous Final Destination films.
Ominous “FINAL DESTINATION 3” countdown banners will infect the web with a terrifying tally of the roughly 150,000 people around the world who will die this fateful day (according to the WHO World Health Report).
Fans can also freak out their friends with a “What’s Your Dark Side?” email with 13 questions designed to reveal a person’s “dark side” via their responses to questions like “Do you think you’ve ever cheated death?” and “Assuming you could choose, how would you like to die?” Forward your honest answers to 13 of your darkest friends to escape death’s clutches, or ignore the game, and Friday the 13th will curse you!
A major sweepstakes across dozens of these scary sites will give away a “FINAL DESTINATION 3” prize pack that includes the “FINAL DESTINATION 1” and “FINAL DESTINATION 2” DVD set and a grand prize of a Panasonic entertainment set.
Set six years after the original “FINAL DESTINATION” film, the latest installment in the successful Final Destination franchise centers around a high school senior who has a premonition of a fatal roller coaster accident involving herself and all her friends. When the premonition proves true, those who have “cheated death” and survived the accident are forced to deal with the repercussions of escaping their fate. “FINAL DESTINATION” stars Ryan Merriman (The Ring Two) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The film, directed by James Wong (Final Destination), is scheduled for a February 10, 2006 release.
