If you are anything like me, when you heard that Dawn of the Dead was being remade you probably cringed. Yet being the horror movie fan you are, you went and saw it in the theater. Some of us liked it, others did not. This is one guy that loved it, so now comes news of the special edition DVD for the original Dawn of The Dead. This special edition DVD is a four disc extravaganza, read on to find all the nasty little details

We've just received final specs for Anchor Bay Entertainment's long in-production Dawn of the Dead: Special Edition and it's a doozy of a package! Ready, here we go...
Disc One: Theatrical Cut with an anamorphic widescreen transfer (1.85:1), DD5.1 and 2.0, DTS 5.1 Surround, audio commentary (George A. Romero, Tom Savini and Chris Romero, moderated by Perry Martin), George A. Romero biography, poster & advertising gallery, comic book preview, trailers, TV and radio spots.
Disc Two: Extended Cut with an anamorphic widescreen transfer (1.85:1), DD Mono, audio commentary (Richard P. Rubinstein with Perry Martin), Monroeville Mall commercial, memorabilia gallery and production stills galleries.
Disc Three: European "Zombie" Cut with an anamorphic widescreen transfer (1.85:1), DD5.1 and 2.0, audio commentary (David Emge, Ken Foree, Scott H. Reiniger and Gaylen Ross), Dario Argento biography, international lobby card gallery, international poster & advertising gallery, international pressbook gallery, home video & soundtrack artwork gallery, international trailers and UK TV spots.

Yesterday we reported on the original Dawn of the Dead special edition DVD that will be coming out September 7, 2004. Now comes news of all the goodies that will be attached to the remake which will be coming to us later then I had hoped, October 5, 2004.
Davis DVD reports,
Universal Home Video finally releases the terrific Dawn of the Dead remake on October 5th. Available in both R-rated (101min) and Unrated Director's Cut (110 min) editions, each with separate anamorphic widescreen and fullscreen releases carrying DD5.1 tracks. Extras on the theatrical edition include feature commentary with director Zack Snyder and producer Eric Newman, 12 minutes of deleted scenes (with optional commentary), "The Lost Tape: Andy's Terrifying Last Days Revealed" DVD exclusive short film, "Special Bulletin: We Interrupt This Program!" broadcast news of the zombie invasions, "Surviving the Dawn" making-of featurette and trailers. The Unrated Director's Cut will include all those extras plus "Raising the Dead" makeup effects and "Attack of the Living Dead" memorable zombie kills featurettes, "Splitting Headaches: Anatomy of Exploding Heads" and DVD-ROM features. Retail is $29.98 apiece
