James Merendino (SLC Punk) starts lensing this month the $1 million Buenos Aires-set drama Death Club, produced by Merendino’s Straight Edge Prods. and Sebastian Aloi’s Aeroplano Cine of Argentina. The Dogma pic concerns four rich kids who, after the suicide of a friend, test the limits of death in order to feel alive, according to Variety. “They attempt to experience life by experiencing the act of death, and it all spirals out of control,” Merendino, who is recording the soundtrack with local band Siga la flecha, told Daily Variety. Argentina’s Dolores Fonzi ( “The Bottom of the Sea”) and France’s Geoffroy Lickel have signed on to star in the project, which will be mostly in Spanish. “Death Club” will shoot for three weeks. Aim is to release it in the U.S. early next year.
