Sid Haig Set to Helm ‘Bubba the Redneck Werewolf’

B-D reporter Elaine Lamkin discovered that the great Sid Haig (Spider baby, Devil’s Rejects) is both directing and starring in a live-action
feature film based on a comic book series called Bubba the Redneck Werewolf. Sid tells B-D that pre-production should begin next month in Orlando, FL. Bubba’s creator, Mitch Hyman, is writing the script and the special effects makeup will be done by Barry Anderson, who worked on Land of the Dead as well as creating the sculpture for all of the Ripley’s Believe It or Not museums! Apparently even with the werewolf makeup, Mr. Haig’s features will still be obvious. Watch the spot for more details, casting news and an interview with Sid in the coming weeks, until then you can visit the official MySpace page for more. “This is the story of Bubba, a dogcatcher in a small Florida town…There was a cosmetic factory that opened up in this little town and they were dumping the toxic waste into the swamps. One of the experiments they were working with was on a poodle that had Bulgarian toxic waste used on it so it could test glow in the dark mascara for the company. Well the dog got evilly intelligent and escaped. Unfortunately, they sent Bubba out after it and Bubba just got bit by the wrong dog. It’s comedy/horror. It’s just slapstick, fall down, insane comedy.
