Uni Pays Big to Join ‘Nightmare Academy’

Universal has made a high six-figure purchase of Nightmare Academy, the first installment of a trilogy of fantasy novels written by “Arrested Development” co-executive producer Dean Lorey, according to Variety. Stephen Sommers and his Sommers Company partner Bob Ducsay will produce. Lorey will write the script. The book revolves around a boy who learns that bad dreams open portals which allow creatures into the world. “The show was 16 hours a day, and then suddenly I had a lot of time on my hands,” Lorey said. “After I’d written 200 pages, my son asked to read it. Next morning, the lights were on, and he said he’d stayed up all night reading it.
