A super interesting foreign film that most of you have missed out on, Das Experiment (The Experiment), is ripe for the remaking with Paul Scheuring at the helm. The film is a very scary story, which could easily happen in real life. Basically the film follows a group of people chosen for an experiment, which goes horribly wrong. Paul Scheuring will write and direct English-language remake “The Experiment” for Bill Johnson and Jim Seibel’s Inferno Entertainment, according to Variety.
Oliver Hirshbeigel (“Downfall”) helmed the German original, “Das Experiment.” Psychological thriller revolves around a prison experiment that turns violent when the subjects get out of control.
Inferno will fully finance and produce the feature with Scheuring, Marty Adelstein and Dawn Parouse. Inferno will handle worldwide sales.
Producers are Adelstein, Parouse, Scheuring, Johnson and Scott Nemes. Seibel will exec produce.
Pic is eyeing a spring start date.
Scheuring is creator of Fox TV series “Prison Break”; Adelstein and Parouse are exec producers on the series.
Adelstein and Parouse also are producing “Black Christmas” for 2929 Prods. and Dimension. Movie, now in post, will be released by MGM.
Inferno’s slate includes “The Good Night,” “The Air I Breathe” and “Southland Tales.” Company also is prepping “Smother.”
