‘Gothika’ Wins and Loses at the Box Office

Even though Mathieu Kassovitz’s supernatural thriller Gothika (review, review) pulled in a Dark Castle record of $19.6 million at the box office this weekend, it was still a disappointing number, considering its star filled cast and $40 million budget. The $19.6 million gives Gothika the biggest opening session of the four horror flicks produced so far by Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis’ Dark Castle Entertainment (House on Haunted Hill, Ghost Ship, 13 Ghosts). Next year they plan on releasing a remake of The House of Wax in 3-D!
