A pretty cool script I read last year was Gold Circle's The New Daughter, which New Line Cinema is releasing next year (but now who knows if that'll happen). Today the first official stills were found from the film that stars Kevin Costner as John James, a single father who moves to a house in the country with his two children following a painful divorce. Soon, however, his adolescent daughter (Ivana Baquero) begins acting strangely, and the household is plagued by disturbing events. John begins to suspect that the mysterious mound at the edge of the forest may have something to do with her ominous behavior.
First still from Twitch Film, click the image for a bunch more:
Costner was decent in Mr. Brooks because there was hardly anything to that role. He was required to be largely expressionless in his face and speech, meaning he really wasn't required to act. All he really had to do was hit his mark and read a cue card. I'm not badmouthing Mr. Brooks, I'm being realistic. Give this guy a reasonably challenging role and you get a performance not unlike a junior high school Shakespeare production.
Costner is an Oscar award winner. His acting and directing should never be a debate. He's more then proved himself.
Cue card and junior high acting????
What the "F" ?????????
