The makers of Halo have been hard at work on a brand new IP called Destiny. It was officially announced way back in February, but it wasn’t until last night that we got a real good look at the game. Visually, it’s gorgeous, though that should come as no surprise. What’s particularly interesting is how it brings together dynamic co-op — your friends can join you via drop ship in real time — with MMO and RPG gameplay. There’s a deep skill system, multiple character classes, epic loot, and Public Events, which consist of many players partaking in large scale battles. Check out its new trailer and twelve minutes of gameplay, after the jump.
We’ve got a photo of what appears to be a natural byproduct of Godzilla trampling your neighborhood, courtesy of Legendary Pictures. I’m assuming this is one of countless vehicles that have been “altered” for the film!
Making his first appearance in 1954 (Gojira) Godzilla is a giant monster that lives in the sea that comes from the ocean to feed on mankind. Warner Bros. will unleash his fury on May 16, 2014. I can’t wait for this.
Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Johnson, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, Richard T. Jones, Sally Hawkins, Akira Takarada, Victor Rasuk, and Yuki Morita all star in the film to be directed by Monsters helmer Gareth Edwards. READ MORE
When it was announced that the legendary Black Sabbath was reuniting and would be releasing a new album, the music world rejoiced. The very thought of Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, and Bill Ward all joining each other in the studio to record new music was something that had seemed, for ages, an impossibility. After all, if 35 years since Never Say Die! wasn’t enough to make this seem like a myth, surely the age of each member was enough to be the final nail in the coffin. But no, the band dismissed all, stuck their devil horns in the air, and proclaimed, “We once said ‘never say die’ and we fucking meant it!”
Then came Iommi’s lymphoma and the departure of Bill Ward. Suddenly the fate of the album was cast into doubt and no one knew for certain if it was ever going to see the light of day. Then came the questions of, “Was it even necessary?” But the group stuck to their guns and enlisted the aid of Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk to record all percussion. The album moved forward under the guidance of renowned producer Rick Rubin and 13 was born.
Now, today, the album is available for the world to hear. Have the pioneers of heavy metal been able to deliver yet another album that inspires millions of aspiring musicians or has age tamed these once wild beasts? Find out below. READ MORE
IFC Films will release Peter Strickland’s Berberian Sound Studio, starring Toby Jones and Tonia Sotiropoulou, on June 14th on various VOD Platforms.
Acquired out of the fests by IFC Films, the pic is “Set in 1976: Gilderoy is hired to orchestrate the sound mix for the latest film by Italian horror maestro, Santini. As time and realities shift, Gilderoy is lost in a spiral of sonic and personal mayhem, and has to confront his own demons in order to stay afloat.”
Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive look at the film with the following clip that goes behind the production of the film’s internal horror film. In it, Sotiropoulou creates “witch” sound effects for Santini’s feature where a witch is rising from the grave. READ MORE
While I already struggle with “space” for NECA’s cool figures, these are the days I pull my hair out in jealousy of those with basements.
Figures.com reports that NECA’s third assortment of Prometheus action figures had undergone a lineup change.
The new lineup, releasing this September, features “Holographic” versions of the Pressure Suit and Chair Suit Engineers. Using translucent blue plastic and hand-painted deco, these figures capture the holographic appearance of the Engineers as they are first seen by the crew – on the run from something terrible.
Each figure stands over 8″ tall and features over 20 points of articulation. Also, both Engineers include a brand new Ampule accessory which can be opened to reveal the mysterious contents inside. READ MORE
The day after my first visit to the set of Insidious Chapter 2, I headed back out to the Linda Vista Hospital to observe another night of shooting. In particular, I followed contest winner Michael Grise through a ghoulish makeover before his appearance with Patrick Wilson in a key scene in the film. I also got to see James Wan in action, handling a frenetic and visually intense scene with aplomb.
In theaters September 13, “The famed horror team of director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell reunite with the original cast of Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Barbara Hershey and Ty Simpkins in INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2, a terrifying sequel to the acclaimed horror film, which follows the haunted Lambert family as they seek to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.”

We’re hearing pretty great things about Jerome Sable’s Stage Fright, a new indie horror that was taken to the Cannes market last month.
“Stage Fright tells the story of a snobby musical theater camp terrorized by a blood-thirsty masked killer who despises musical theatre.”
Today we landed the official sales art, as well as a first look at star Minnie Driver in the film.
Meat Loaf, Allie MacDonald, Douglas Smith, Kent Nolan, Brandon Uranowitz, Ephraim Ellis, Melanie Leishman, James McGowan, Steffi DiDomenicantonio, Ryan Bobkin, Leanne Miller and Adrianna Di Liello also star. Thanks to BD reader ‘Jonny B.’ for the tip. READ MORE
As we all try to patiently wait for the second season in Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead a brand new episode titled 400 Days has been confirmed. During their press conference, Sony revealed the episode will be coming to the PS Vita, along with the first season and bonus content, but it will definitely also be making its way to every other platform. During Sony’s media briefing last night they announced that Dead Nation — one of the best zombie arcade games on PSN — will soon be coming to the PS Vita. If you’re unfamiliar with it, Dead Nation is a two-player cooperative zombie survival game played from the top down perspective. You run around collecting money and mowing down hordes of the undead, as well as the more intimidating mutations, as you try and make your way to the safe zone. If you have a Vita, this is something worth getting excited over.

Having to wait 13 years for a new Diablo game, ludicrous. Having to wait 13 years for a new Killer Instinct?! Well that is just absolutely unfathomable! How could someone let this happen?! Yes, it’s true, after 13 long years in the dark, Killer Instinct is making a comeback. Rare, and Double Helix Games (Silent Hill Homecoming) will be manning the project that will be exclusive to the Xbox One. Not much more is known right now, but we will be seeing series favorite back at the very least. Check out the trailer and screens past the break.
I don’t think I’m as skeptical about Batman Arkham Origins and many others. Though I am that way about a lot of things. I do love me a good origin story as well. The main force driving the story of Arkham Origins is that there is a 50 million dollar bounty on Batman’s head. So all the badies in town are out to kill him dead. Spoiler alert, he lives. I know, shocker, but supposedly there have been a couple games about him already released. Check out the new game play trailer past the break!
I’m sure deep down a lot of you wished you could be as cool as Mad Max. Well you get the next best thing. You get to play as him in his very own video game! Hooray! The freshly announced game will be an open world 3rd person shooter, but it will also focus heavily on vehicular warfare. You’ll spend your time wandering the wasteland in fighting bandits and building the ultimate combat vehicle. The game is being developed by Avalanche Studios, who are behind the Just Cause series. Check out an awesome announcement trailer past the break. The game will be hitting the consoles hard in 2014 on the PC, Playstation 3 and 4, and the Xbox 360 and One.
Beyond Two Souls is almost like looking a bit in to the future of gaming. This game looks top of the line, and will probably push your Playstation 3 to the brink of explosion while playing it. But it also gives us a peak into how incredible things will look on the Playstation 4. Head past the break to see a ton of new screen shots, as well as an awesome new trailer.
Sony Pictures took Sebastian Silva’s thriller Magic Magic to the Sundance Film Festival and got quite a bit of buzz. Starring Michael Cera, Juno Temple, Emily Browning and Catalina Sandino Moreno, the film takes place in remote Chile, where a vacationing young woman begins to mentally unravel. This trailer certainly captures that, with Cera in particular using his upper crust charms to creepy effect.
In the film, “While vacationing with a friend in the spectacular Chilean lake district, young American traveler Alicia (Temple) begins seeing disturbing images visible only to her. Her best friend Sarah (Browning) suddenly returns to Santiago, leaving Alicia in an unfamiliar country surrounded by strangers (Cera and Sandino Moreno). More and more she unravels, seeing darker visions and hearing chilling noises that send her running into the woods. In this disturbing landscape, she experiences crushing terror and knows that she must escape. A destabilizing, psychological thriller recalling the best works in the genre, this film entices viewers into a world they won’t be able to forget.”

David Twohy and Vin Diesel have reunited for Riddick, the third film in the Pitch Black franchise, and now there’s a new banner image that uses a previous release still as it’s centerpiece.
In theaters September 6, “Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy. The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.” READ MORE
Everyone give it up for Kyle Lambert. Not only has he managed to indelibly capture the aesthetic essence of Toy Story, he’s managed to graft it onto a series of key images from The Shining that remind us just how many classic moments Kubrick’s masterpiece has. The Shining is such an incredibly cinematic, visual film and I love the contrast Lambert provides by mixing its universe with something more innocent.

Sony has taken the fight straight to Microsoft’s jugular, and I think they may have won this upcoming console generation before it’s even officially begun. They just finished up their media briefing, but not before dropping multiple bombs on the Xbox One. First off, the PlayStation 4 will support used games. This means you can sell, trade in and loan every game in your library. The PS4 does not require an Internet connection and will never need to authenticate games. And lastly, we have the console’s price. That’ll be $399, or €399 and £349 for those across the pond.
That’s significantly less than the Xbox One, which will bring with it a price tag of $499 — along with the used game restrictions and required Internet connection, apparently those “features” are pricey ones. I don’t think I even need to ask, but what the hell! Which console are you getting?
When Sony told us they were the PlayStation 4 is a console for gamers, they weren’t kidding. Their line-up of indie games is amazing, and perhaps what’s most impressive is the fact that they’ve managed to get the console rights to two extremely promising indie horror games, Daylight and Outlast. Both games will still come to PC, all this means is the Xbox One has been left out in the cold. If you’re a fan of indie horror games, this is looking more and more like the console to get.
At Sony’s pre-E3 conference, a PlayStation 4 exclusive called The Order: 1886 was unveiled. In it, a group of badass Victorian Steampunk soldiers take on a bunch of werewolves in a foggy street. The weapons looks especially cool, and there’s a definite horror vibe to it. I can’t say I’m positive the creatures they’re are fighting are indeed werewolves, but they sure look like them. Read on for its debut trailer.
