Chainsaw Set Visit Day 10: Director Jonathan Liebesman

Today we added our interview with director Jonathan Liebesman from the set of New Line Cinema’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Origin, which his theaters October 6th, 2006. Jonathan directed Darkness Falls a few years back and blew people away this past year with his short film Rings for DreamWork’s The Ring Two campaign. Over 30 New 'King Kong' Pics Stomp Online

Today Universal Pictures provided us with a whopping 40 images (some of which we already had) images from King Kong, which hits theaters a week from Friday!! Sarah Michelle Gellar Officially Onboard 'Grudge' Sequel

Sarah Michelle Gellar has now officially signed on to reprise her role — albeit briefly — in the horror sequel The Grudge 2 for Columbia Pictures and Ghost House Pictures, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Gellar will return to pass the supernatural curse — introduced in the first installation — on to the franchise’s next lead victim, an actor to be cast soon. Director Takashi Shimizu, scribe Stephen Susco and producers Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert and Taka Ichise also are on board for the sequel. “The union of Sarah’s innocent girl-next-door persona and Shimizu’s twisted Eastern perspective should spawn another original and terrifying tale for the audience,” Raimi said. The Grudge 2 hits theaters October 20th, 2006.

Patrick Bateman Returns to the Big Screen

Everyones favorite killer Patrick Bateman is set to make his return to the big screen… sort of. Palm-Star Entertainment has optioned Bret Easton Ellis’ (American Psycho) latest novel, Lunar Park, which follows the author-narrarator as an narcissistic, self-pitying drug fiend who gets a shot at redemption when movie star Jayne Dennis, an old flame, offers to marry him. The deal is that he must now connect with Robby, the son he has shunned for 11 years, according to Variety. Apparently among the unsettling events plaguing his life is the appearance of what appears to be a real-life incarnation of his fictional Bateman character, according to Fangoria. ” ‘Lunar Park is the most personal book I’ve written, even if on the surface it reads like a thriller,” Easton Ellis said. “It took a long time to complete, and Palm-Star has known about the book from the beginning. They witnessed the usual complaints, anxieties and excitement that occur when you’re completing a novel. Now it’s their turn to move through that process.”

'Black Sheep' Heading Back to the Roots

Visual-effects supervisor Richard Taylor (King Kong) told SCI FI Wire that he and his physical-effects team at Weta Workshop in New Zealand are deep in preproduction on their next project, a horror film entitled Black Sheep, according to Sci Fi Wire. The film is said to be a frightening and funny horror film set in a New Zealand, something you’ve never seen before. It has brave heroes, creepy locations and creatures lurking in the dark. Gold Circle Brings Johnson Back for 'Before'

More horror from Gold Cirlce Films is on the way. The Hal Lieberman Company and Gold Circle Films are partnering on the supernatural thriller Before. Lieberman will produce with Gold Circle’s Paul Brooks, whose company is handling the independent financing of the film, according to Variety. Written by Niall Johnson (“White Noise”), pic centers around a therapist who investigates a series of deaths at a psychiatric hospital only to uncover a world of supernatural spirits, possession and reincarnation. Gold Circle also recently announced A Haunting in Connecticut.
