UPDATED Clear Look at 'Venom' Poster and Release Secured

Miramax/Dimension Films’ Venom has been set for a September 16th release for quite sometime now, but it looked pretty obvious that we wouldn’t be seeing it in theaters in the next two weeks- only we were wrong. From what I’ve been informed the movie is still being tweaked after the test screening, but it will make it into theaters in the next two weeks. Apparently they’ve already begun with TV spots on Comedy Central, MTV and a few other places- is it possible? Leatherface Attacks in October, But When?

The scariest thing about horror is not knowing when the killer might attack, well that’s the case with New Line Cinema’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Origin, which had its October 6th date removed. The film will now open “sometime in October 2006, just not October 6 as initially scheduled,” according to Film Jerk. The story follows a group of kids who run afoul of chainsaw-wielding psycho Leatherface and his demented family. The story will reveal Leatherface’s origins. The beautiful Jordana Brewster will star in the Jonathan Liebesman directed prequel.

'The Covenant' Countdown Begins in 4 Days

Columbia Pictures’ The Covenant, which will be directed by Renny Harlin, is set to hit theaters on September 8th, 2006, according to FilmJerk. “The Covenant” graphic novel features a story that takes place prior to the events in the upcoming movie and follows a group of four families whose patriarchs wield a vast eldritch power. Those powers have been passed down from father to son for generations. They spend the summer learning how to use them, but accidentally unleash a great big evil into the world. Four years later they have to stop what they started.

B-D Fights off the 'Ice Queen' and 'The Boogeyman'

Hitting stores this week (along with 100 other titles) is Sony Pictures’ The Boogeyman, the film that inspired it’s remake this past February. A young girl witnesses her brother murder a man through a reflection in a mirror. Twenty years later the mirror is shattered, freeing his evil spirit, which seeks revenge for his death. BD Interview: 'Studio 666' Writer Adam Hackbarth

This past week we posted an exclusive interview with Adam Hackbarth, writer of Studio 666, which is now available on DVD. Cassidy, the lead singer of a band, lives with her boyfriend and band member, Neal. Cassidy records the torment of her silent pain and suffering in a private journal. Thinking Neal does not love her, Cassidy is devastated and commits suicide. Neal, shocked and horrified, witnesses the suicide. Three months following Cassidy’s death, band members, Dora, Donny, Victor, and Neal visit Dr. Meso, a psychic, for answers. They question whether or not to continue recording their album with out Cassidy. After posing the question, Cassidy’s spirit overtakes Dr. Meso’s body. You can watch the trailer here.

First Official Stills from 'Unholy', Trailer Soon

Inside you’ll find new pics from Daryl Goldberg’s indie film Unholy, which will have its trailer debut in the coming weeks. The film deals with a grieving mother, Martha (Barbeau), trying to uncover the terrifying secret that is jeopardizing her family. Along with her son (Brendon), Martha becomes entwined in a conspiracy involving a fabled witch, Nazi occultists and the U.S. government. See 'HellBent' for Free in New York!!

Buzz’s website Campblood.org is giving away passes to see an advance screening of Paul Etheredge-Ouzts’s gay slasher flick HellBent in New York on Wednesday, September 14th at 8:00PM. Buzz writes, “But it’s not just a screening, people: Bryan Kirkwood (he plays the bedroom-eyed rough trade interest) will be in attendance (and perhaps writer/director/tummy-tempter Paul Etheredge-Ouzts will be there as well…), and the screening will of course be followed by lots of sassy cocktails at a local lounge.” The gay-themed horror project follows five characters fighting for survival during West Hollywood’s annual carnival.

Lori Petty Gets Tough Again in 'Masters of Horror'

More Masters of Horror casting news comes rolling in as Fangoria reports that Lori Petty (Tank Girl) will take a lead role in William (House on Haunted Hill) Malone’s Fair Haired Child, scripted by Matt (Mimic) Greenberg, which begins shooting in Vancouver this week. Tara, a lonely 13-year-old outcast, is kidnapped by a strange couple and locked in the basement with their 13-year-old son, Johnny. Despite the fact that he is kind and sensitive, Johnny keeps a terrible secret. These two children form a special bond to find a way to battle a curse and survive the night.

TWO 24 Hours of Cinematic Mayhem in Chicago!

Just wait until you see what’s playing at BOTH these fests!! One of our good friends in Chicago (who runs the excellent Flashback Weekend convention) is back again, but this time a you can join him with the Flashback Weekend HorrorFest. The all day and all night Festival will be held September 24, 2005 at the historic Hi-Lite 30 Drive-In in Aurora , Illinois . The Hi-Lite 30 is the oldest operating drive-in in Illinois . A New 'Emily Rose' Clip Haunts Your Computer

Two clips have already surfaced all over the web, but Comingsoon scored a look at a third clip entitled ‘Even the Serpents’. Sony Screen Gems’ The Exorcism of Emily Rose (set visit), which stars Laura Linney, Tom Wilkinson, Campbell Scott, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Jennifer Carpenter, hits theaters next Friday. In an extremely rare decision, the Catholic Church officially recognized the demonic possession of a 19-year-old college freshman. Told in terrifying flashbacks, The Exorcism of Emily Rose chronicles the haunting trial of the priest accused of negligence resulting in the death of the young girl believed to be possessed. Inspired by true events, the film stars Laura Linney as the lawyer defending the priest (Tom Wilkinson) who performed the controversial exorcism.

A 'Fog' Washes Over the Net in a Big Way

Smileemptysoul1989 was nice enough to inform us that Sony Pictures has fully launched their official website (or click our wonderful banners) for The Fog (set visit), which hits theaters October 14th. The website has downloads, new photos and awesome flash intros- check it out now! Rupert Wainwright’s film is a remake of the 1980 John Carpenter horror film. The original was set in Northern California, where a thick fog enshrouds the coastline. The fog is reminiscent of one 100 years before that wrecked a ship and drowned the seamen aboard. Slater stars as a volunteer soldier/assassin who goes mad after he turns invisible. But unlike in the first film directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Kevin Bacon, the latest Hollow Man faces an invisible protagonist this time, a cop trying to protect the story’s heroine (Regan).
