New ’100 Bloody Acres’ Stills Share Recipe For Success!

We now have a small image gallery for 100 Bloody Acres, the Australian horror-comedy from Doppelganger Releasing in limited theaters and on various VOD platforms June 28.

Written and Directed by Colin and Cameron Cairnes, the film stars Damon Herrriman, Agnus Sampson, Anna McGahan, Oliver Ackland, Jamie Kristian, and Wolf Creek‘s John Jarratt.

In 100 Bloody Acres, brothers Reg and Lindsay Morgan are struggling to keep their organic blood and bone fertilizer business in motion. Their secret “recipe” for success (using dead car crash victims in their product) was a huge boon to business, but lately supply has been gravely low. Months have passed since their last find, and an important new customer is now waiting on a delivery. When junior partner Reg (Damon Herriman of Justified) stumbles upon 3 travelers stranded on a remote country road, he cooks up a radical solution to their problem, and a way of finally gaining the respect of his bossy big brother (Angus Sampson). But when Reg starts to fall for Sophie, one of the intended victims, things get complicated…

Said to be a bloody good time, the Cairnes’ brothers witty horror-comedy blends sly Australian humor, gory fun, and a clever storyline that gives “recycling” a whole new context. READ MORE

Meet the King of Hell In This Exclusive ‘Paymon’ Image!

A rookie cop’s world is turned upside down when she comes face to face with Paymon, “The King of Hell.”

We recently announced that Dread and Cassadaga‘s Anthony DiBlasi is already back behind the camera working on his next feature, Paymon, which was co-written with Scott Poiley for Skyra Entertainment.

In the film, “Officer Jessica Loren has the last shift at a transitioning police station, assigned to wait for a hazmat crew who’s coming to pick up bio-hazard waste from the armory. But unbeknownst to Jessica, it’s more than just an old station. Cult leader John Michael Paymon has haunted the department ever since he and two of his followers committed suicide on the night they were captured. And now Jessica is about to find out how dangerous they can really be when she’s left all alone on this grave-yard shift.

Bloody Disgusting has scored an official still, which is one of the better teaser images released by an indie production in quite some time (publicists take note, this is an attention grabber).

Here’s Another Nightmarish Trailer For ‘Asylum’

Apparently, I’m a few weeks behind on this trailer, so I’m going to go ahead and blame E3 for my tardiness.

From Agustín Cordes, the maker of Scratches, Asylum is an psychological horror game inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Cordes and developer Senscape are working hard to bring players a terrifying game that’s set in an abandoned asylum. The building itself is being touted as one of the biggest virtual buildings ever created for a video game, with over 100 rooms to explore and around 15 hours of gameplay. I’m psyched.

Ten Minutes Of Glorious Thievery From New ‘Thief’ Reboot

Of the many games that were shown off at E3 last week, for me, Thief is one of the more exciting ones. It just looks so damn good. I’m not even terribly good at — read: really, really bad — or a huge fan of the stealth genre, though games like Dishonored and Splinter Cell are slowly changing that.

Thief looks gorgeous, and I’ve enjoyed some of the supernatural horror elements in previous games (the Shalebridge Cradle from Deadly Shadows was intense). I think they may have replaced most, if not all, of that with gritty realism in this next installment, but even still, it looks fantastic. At E3, Square Enix showed off ten wonderful minutes from the the upcoming game, which you can enjoy after the break.

[Special Report] Back To Pitch Black On The Set Of ‘Riddick’!!! PART ONE!

Back in March of 2012 I visited the Montreal set of Riddick, the third film in the Pitch Black franchise, for a few days. I wound up with so much material there was no way I could fit it all into one article, so I’m breaking it up into several pieces. In this first look at Riddick, I chose to focus on the overall tone of the film, how it got here and some key information from director David Twohy and star Vin Diesel. I also touch on some other major players like Katee Sackhoff, Mathew Nable and Jordi Molla. We also found out that there are TWO additional sequels planned for the film.

In theaters September 6, “Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy. The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

‘Frankenstein’s Army’ Theatrical Poster Stands Tall Above Others!

Even better than the UK quad, Dark Sky Films provided us with an insanely cool theatrical one-sheet for writer-director Richard Raaphorst’s Frankenstein’s Army, opening in select cities July 26th.

Filmed in Prague and recently having its World Premiere at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, Frankenstein’s Army marks the feature debut of Dutch director Richard Raaphorst, and has already received high critical acclaim.

Using shocking vintage newsreel footage as his jumping-off point, Raaphorst has hit on a unique and bold premise. Toward the end of World War II, Russian soldiers pushing into eastern Germany stumble across a secret Nazi lab, one that has unearthed and begun experimenting with the journal of one Dr. Victor Frankenstein. The scientists have used the legendary’s Frankenstein’s work to assemble an army of supersoldiers stitched together from the body parts of their fallen comrades – a desperate Hitler’s last ghastly ploy to escape defeat.

The highly anticipated film, which recently screened to acclaim at the Tribeca Film Festival, is a co-production of MPI/Dark Sky Films, Los Angeles-based XYZ Films and Pellicola of Amsterdam. READ MORE

Meet After Dark’s ‘Children of Sorrow’

After Dark Films recently announced the fourth film in its After Dark Originals 2 series, Children of Sorrow, which we now have four brand new stills from.

The film is said to deliver a petrifying look into a cult psyche, Children of Sorrow is directed by Jourdan McClure (Rogue River, Die Maniacs Die!), written by Ryan Finnerty (Rogue River, Smosh), starring Bill Oberst Jr (Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies, Take this Lollipop) and Hannah Levien (The Palace Players).

Simon Leach is a very, very sick man. Thriving on despair, pain, and panic, he unites a group of broken and desperate people in the middle of the desert. He showers them with the love and affection they’re so desperate for, but Simon has a much greater plan for his followers.

“Belongingness can be a terrifying subject, even more so when acceptance is disingenuous. Children of Sorrow is the nightmare version of that,” said McClure. READ MORE

[Exclusive] We’ve Got The Uncensored Better Left Unsaid “She Needs Violence” Music Video Premiere

Bloody-Disgusting has teamed up with Modesto, California metal band Better Left Unsaid to bring you the exclusive uncensored music video premiere for “She Needs Violence”! The video mixes band performance with artistic imagery, heightened sexuality, and jarring violence. Some imagery here may be NSFW, so keep that in mind when watching it. Also, make sure to check out this photo album of behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot.

Also below is an exclusive interview with drummer Brent Terry that goes over the band, their fondness of horror, the concept of the video and more.

The more I listen to the song, the more I really enjoy it. It has elements of Mudvayne back when that band was something unique and exciting. It mixes melody with ferocity and it’s obvious that there is a fantastic amount of communication within the band as the song has great structure and flows evenly from one passage to another.

Better Left Unsaid, which was produced by Adam Ruppel (Systematic), can be purchased from iTunes. READ MORE

‘Harry Potter’ Wizard Turns To Terror In ‘Eliza Graves’

Deadline writes about the Brad Anderson-directed thriller Eliza Graves is based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe and begins production next week.

What’s interesting, besides the new cast, is that if it makes it, the Millennium Films project will mark the end of a long road for screenwriter Joseph Gangemi, who penned the script adapting “The System Of Doctor Tarr And Professor Fether” 15 years ago, with three studios taking a crack at it before Millennium acquired U.S. rights at the last American Film Market.

Now David Thewlis (pictured; Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) and Brendan Gleeson (Gangs of New York, The Raven) have joined a cast that already includes Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, Ben Kingsley and Michael Caine in a thriller “about a young doctor who comes to apprentice at a mental institution and meets a beautiful patient that he falls in love with amidst a set of difficult circumstances, which may be more complicated than they seem.

The ‘Prometheus’ Sequel Has Its Writer!

Fox and Ridley Scott are getting closer to returning to space as Jack Paglen (Transcendence) is in talks to write the follow-up to last year’s sci-fi blockbuster, Prometheus, Variety reports.

Scott will produce again through his Scott Free banner though it’s unknown at this time if he will direct. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are also expected to return.

Plot details are still be worked out but Scott has said in interviews that while the first Prometheus had several elements linking it to the Alien franchise, this latest installment will feel more like its own film.

Despite not having a greenlight, the sci-fi movie’s new screenwriter is a good sign for a project Fox has been wary of committing to even though the last installment, written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof, made more than $400 million worldwide.

For Paglen, the film marks his second high-profile project following Wally Pfister and Johnny Depp’s sci-fi thriller Transcendence, which opens next April.
