Under the Dome

[TV] Full Trailer For “Under The Dome” Gets You Up To Speed

We’ve got a look at the full trailer for the Stephen King adaptation “Under the Dome,” and it’s not looking too shabby for a network mini-series! I feel like it paints some of the characters in broad strokes, but then again that could just be a trailer thing. The show has plenty of time to deepen them out.

‘Under the Dome’ is the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town’s inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from, and if and when it will go away.

The 13-episode summer series will premiere June 24th on CBS.

It stars Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Dean Norris, Natalie Martinez, Britt Robertson, Alexander Koch, Colin Ford, Nicholas Strong, Jolene Purdy, and Aisha Hinds. READ MORE

‘P5ych’ Heads To the Horror Icons Ward

Cinema Management Group launched sales at Cannes on the upcoming horror thriller P5ych from Saw franchise producer Peter Block.

Block and fellow producer Maxwell Sinovi are out to Paul Bettany (Priest) and Paul Giamatti (John Dies at the End) on the story of five trauma survivors at a research clinic.

“P5ych centres on the postmodern conceit of five patients undergoing experimental treatment whose real-life experiences inspired horror staples such as Friday The 13th, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and A Nightmare On Elm Street.

When the former victims are made to confront their fears the memories become real and the body count begins to rise.

Matthew Currie Holmes, who appeared in The Fog and Firewall, will direct. READ MORE

Raven Banner Acquires ‘Cut Throats Nine’ Remake

Genre film distributor Raven Banner Entertainment has picked up the worldwide sales rights to the Harvey Keitel starrer Cut Throats Nine from director Rodrigo Gudino, says THR.

The remake of the classic 1972 Spanish film from producers Rue Morgue Cinema and Canspan Film Factory has had Keitel, “Hannibal’s” Mads Mikkelsen and Jordi Molla attached since 2009.

The action is set in 1972 in the American west where a wagonload of murderous convicts is attacked by bandits. Only seven survive, along with a sergeant (Mikkelsen) and his beautiful young daughter. Stumbling toward its destination, the convoy degenerates into savagery, with survivors being choked, stabbed, shot and burned.

The producers have now added Julian Richings and Kris Holden-Reid to the cast ahead of an early-2014 production.

Raven Banner, which helped distributor Gudino’s feature debut, the Vanessa Redgrave starrer The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh, will start shopping the updated western/horror pic for pre-sales in Cannes this week. READ MORE

‘DreadOut’ Indiegogo Campaign Almost Over, Still Short Of Funding Goal

Earlier this week Among the Sleep successfully passed its funding goal, so this has already been a great week for one indie horror developer. I say we spread the love to another. There are only three days left in DreadOut’s Indiegogo campaign and they’re still short of their $25k goal.

Granted, they’re running a flexible funding campaign, so even if it falls short they’ll get the money they’ve raised so far. It’d still be nice to see two incredible indie horror games get the support they need this week. If you’d like to support the game, you can donate here.

Lakeshore’s ‘The Vatican Tapes’ Possesses Cannes

[Indie Horror Spotlight] ‘Among The Sleep’ Is Spooky

In this episode, Adam and David explore a bizarre and terrifying world, where they learn to embrace their inner child and break free from the shackles of their crib in search of their mum. For the unfamiliar, Among the Sleep is an indie horror game developed by Krillbite Studio. Yesterday, their Kickstarter campaign successfully reached its funding goal with about three days to spare. Now they’re working toward achieving a handful of stretch goals that include Oculus Rift support (basic support is already happening, this would be for more advanced functionality) and commentary tracks.

If the idea of a toddler sized Adam climbing dresser shelves so he can reach a doorknob sounds appealing — and really, why wouldn’t it — you should definitely watch me play this alpha.

Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe Writes Passionate Plea To Metal Fans

Randy Blythe, vocalist for Lamb Of God, has posted a lengthy essay on his Tumblr entitled “Be Carefully”. It is a heartbreaking, emotional piece in which Randy explains many of his feelings after he was exonerated of the death of 19-year old Daniel Nosek, who died after suffering injuries at a 2010 LoG concert in Prague. It is also a post in which Blythe makes impassioned pleas to the metal community, both the fans as well as the promoters/club owners.

Beautifully written and thoughtfully crafted, it is not an easy piece to read. I’ll fully admit that I had tears in my eyes when Blythe describes sitting down with Nosek’s mother and holding her hands while they both wept.

[TV] Even If Cancelled, “Hannibal” Will Continue To Kill…

Even with a potential cancellation in the cards, there appears to be only good news for the Bryan Fuller-headed series “Hannibal.”

While NBC internally debates bringing back the incredibly expensive “Hannibal” for a second season, other networks, including Amazon, are licking their chops in anticipation of a cancellation, reports Deadline.

The series, from “Pushing Daisies” creator Bryan Fuller, got off to a solid ratings start and was in serious contention for an early renewal. The numbers eventually tapered off, and NBC put the renewal decision on hold.

There are no talks going on and “Hannibal” has not been shopped as the producers are waiting on a renewal at NBC.

Trailer For ‘V/H/S/2′ Features TONS Of Bloody Chaos!!!

We finally get a full length trailer for V/H/S/2 and it’s worth the wait! As someone who really liked most of the original film, I’ve got no problem telling you that V/H/S/2 is much, much better. It’s tighter, shorter, leaner and a rock solid viewing experience. It’s also gory, chaotic and fun as hell – which this trailer certainly represents!

Acquired by Magnet Releasing out of Sundance as S-VHS, V/H/S/2 will be arriving on VOD platforms June 6 with a theatrical rollout set for July 12. In the film directed by Simon Barrett, Adam Wingard, Gareth Evans, Eduardo Sanchez, Gregg Hale, Jason Eisener and Timo Tjahjanto, “Inside a darkened house looms a column of TVs littered with VHS tapes, a pagan shrine to forgotten analog gods. The screens crackle and pop endlessly with monochrome vistas of static—white noise permeating the brain and fogging concentration. But you must fight the urge to relax: this is no mere movie night. Those obsolete spools contain more than just magnetic tape. They are imprinted with the very soul of evil.

From the demented minds that brought you last year’s V/H/S comes V/H/S/2, an all-new anthology of dread, madness, and gore. This follow-up ventures even further down the demented path blazed by its predecessor, discovering new and terrifying territory in the genre. This is modern horror at its most inventive, shrewdly subverting our expectations about viral videos in ways that are just as satisfying as they are sadistic. The result is the rarest of all tapes—a second generation with no loss of quality.

Check it out below!!! We’ve also got some new stills from the film! READ MORE

This ‘Metro: Last Light’ Launch Trailer Has A Mutant Bear

Did you hear? Metro: Last Light is out right now. If you’re not in your fallout bunker yet, it’s too late. I’d say you have just about the perfect amount of time to watch this launch trailer before you’re vaporized like that scene in Terminator 2 when the bombs drop and faces start melting. The good news is, the time it takes for a face to melt varies from person to person, so you might have enough life left in you to read my review.

I’d go on, but the Bloody Disgusting fallout shelter feels a little warm — I think TJ messed with the thermometer again — and I refuse to listen to the screams of my fellow man as each and every one of you gets turned into smoldering, crispy husks in a room that isn’t at exactly 70 degrees.

Escape the crime, pollution, and misery of Earth. Apply now for a better, happier, more luxurious life. Elysium, it’s better up there.

That’s the kickstart of Columbia Pictures’ viral campaign for Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium, which makes me think of the utopia promised in the “BioShock” games.

In theaters August 9, “In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

HBO has released the first teaser poster that continues their streak of awesome promo items. Featuring the tagline “No One Lives Forever,” the one-sheet depicts a vampire seemingly drowning in blood. Even immortal vamps will eventually die. Oxymoron anyone? Awesome.

Guest stars joining the HBO smash in Season 6 are acting vet Rutger Hauer (as a mysterious figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason), “Rubicon’s” Arliss Howard (as Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell), “Friday Night Lights” grad Jurnee Smollett-Bell (as do-gooder Nicole), “90210‘s” Amelia Rose Blaire (as Howard’s onscreen daughter), “House‘s” Karolina Wydra (as a badass vamp) and All The Boys Love Mandy Lane‘s Luke Grimes as James, a Jim Morrison style vampire. [Modern Art] All Hail The Pumpkin King

Today, we’re looking at some gorgeous digital paintings from Slovakian artist Rado Javor. After sifting through his gallery I’d say he’s a man who shares my fondness for Halloween. He does an amazing job of capturing the essence of the holiday, which is so much more than costumes, haunted houses and trick or treating. Looking at his work makes me want to scour a pumpkin patch for the perfect pumpkin so I can take it home, stab it repeatedly, pull out its insides, set it on fire and display it on my porch for all to see.

Oh, and there are also a few awesome paintings of alien invasions, because hey, those are cool too.

NECA Reveals Jason Figure Based On Abysmal 1989 Game

I never got around to playing the NES game based on the Friday the 13th franchise, mostly because I was one year-old and that sort of game isn’t appropriate for anyone under three. Probably for the best, because I’ve since heard that it’s not all that fun to play. One year-old Adam wouldn’t have approved of those poorly conceived dodge mechanics, I can guarantee you that.

To me, the most controversial thing about it is Jason, who happens to be sporting a purple jumpsuit and neon blue mask. Jason can’t pull off those colors, he’s strictly a brown and grey sort of fellow. I fully support throwing in a muted green here and there to mix things up, but blue and purple? No sir. I’d say this guy is best left in the past, so as to keep that neon vomit away from the general public. It would seem the fine folks at NECA would disagree.
