[TV] NBC Moves Out Of “666 Park Avenue”

This is why I typically don’t watch a new television series until it’s picked up for a second season.

It looks as though the sub will never get off the island in “Last Resort” and “666 Park Avenue” is an address to be forever haunted, says Variety.

“666 Park Avenue,” which airs at 10 o’clock Sunday, the supernatural drama has been up against NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” which draws a big weekly audience.

Starring “Lost” vet Terry O’Quinn as a demonic superintendant of a high-end Gotham apartment building, “666 Park Avenue” has been averaging a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6.3 million total viewers in live-plus-7 data.

Show is from Warner Bros. Television and was created by David Wilcox, who exec produces with Matt Miller, Gina Girolamo and Leslie Morgenstein.

ABC plans to run the entire 13 episodes already produced before canceling each show.

TV: ABC Moves Into “666 Park Avenue” On September 30th

We knew that ABC’s sexy genre thriller “666 Park Avenue”, which will air at 10:00 PM on Sundays. And now we know which Sunday it starts – September 30th. That’s when we’ll find out if this show has some true horror bona-fides (not likely) or is full of hot air (likely). I’m not hating – I’m just doing the math on the amount of decent network shows these days (their quality seems to be dipping as cable’s quality rises).

At the ominous address of 666 Park Avenue, anything you desire can be yours. Everyone has needs, desires, and ambition. For the residents of The Drake, these will all be met, courtesy of the building’s mysterious owner, Gavin Doran (Terry O’Quinn). But every Faustian contract comes with a price. When Jane Van Veen (Rachael Taylor) and Henry Martin (Dave Annable), an idealistic young couple from the Midwest, are offered the opportunity to manage the historic building, they not only fall prey to the machinations of Doran and his mysterious wife, Olivia (Vanessa Williams), but unwittingly begin to experience the shadowy, supernatural forces within the building that imprison and endanger the lives of the residents inside. Sexy, seductive, and inviting, The Drake maintains a dark hold over all of its residents, tempting them through their ambitions and desires, in this chilling new drama that’s home to an epic struggle of good versus evil.

[San Diego Comic-Con '12] Cast and Creators Talk “666 Park Avenue”

The Woman In Black writes in: With horror being the hottest trend on TV, ABC brought “666 Park Avenue” to the San Diego Comic-Con, where we had a chance to watch the pilot and panel and then chat with the cast and creators of the show. Color us definitely intrigued by what we’ve seen so far!

The stars of “666″ – Rachael Taylor as Jane Van Veen, Dave Annable as Henry Martin, Vanessa Williams as Olivia Doran, and Terry O’Quinn as Gavin Doran – were at a bit of a disadvantage during our interview since up to this point they’ve only shot the pilot and haven’t even seen the script for the next episode so we didn’t get a lot of information about the show from them; but writer/executive producer David Wilcox and executive producer Matthew Miller did shed a bit more light on things… READ MORE

[San Diego Comic-Con '12] TV: Promo Art For “The Following,” “Supernatural,” “The Vampire Diaries,” & “666 Park Avenue”

Via THR comes your first look at the promotional art for the new (and returning) television series “The Following,” “Supernatural,” “The Vampire Diaries,” and “666 Park Avenue.”

Warner Bros. Television should have no trouble making a splash at Comic-Con. The studio — which is hosting 14 panels for shows including Fox’s “The Following,” CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory,” CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” and “ABC’s 666 Park Avenue” — continues to have a bigger presence at the fan convention than anyone else on the TV front.

As part of the push, three WBTV properties — “Big Bang,” “Fringe” and “Supernatural” — will hold events in the 7,500-person Hall H, which traditionally has been reserved for film panels. “You’re starting to see TV take a different position at Comic-Con, one we didn’t see five to seven years ago,” says WBTV chief marketing officer Lisa Gregorian. “Go big or go home!

Dead & Breakfast star Erik Palladino had landed a reoccuring role in ABC’s “666 Park Avenue” as Tony DeMeo, a doorman at The Drake apartments. “Welcome to The Drake, Park Avenue’s most devilish address, where evil, obsession, and supernatural occurences are included in the rent.” “666 Park Avenue” will air at 10:00 PM on Sundays.

In other small TV news, Elizabeth Mitchell (pictured) is reuniting with Lost creator J.J. Abrams as a series regular on his post-apocalyptic NBC drama “Revolution.” Mitchell will play Rachel Matheson, the mother of Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos) and Danny Matheson (Graham Rogers), and appear in a series in flashbacks. Abrams and writer Eric Kripke (“Supernatural”) are executive-producing Revolution, in which all of the power in the world mysteriously shuts off. Picking up 15 years after the catastrophe, the series follows a band of survivors trying to evade a ruthless militia unit that wants to get the current flowing again, though for the wrong reasons.

TV: Writer Moves Into “666 Park Avenue” Occupied By Witches

Variety spoke with writer David Wilcox about adapting the book series “666 Park Avenue” into a primetime series, which landed on ABC’s fall schedule in the 10 p.m. Sunday timeslot.

For Wilcox, who previously wrote for “Law & Order,” ABC’s “Life on Mars” and Fox’s “Fringe,” this new series blends elements from his past efforts to make a supernatural soap with influences from the horror genre (think Rosemary’s Baby, The Omen, The Shining).

The book is about witches on Park Avenue,” Wilcox says. “The TV show takes place on Park Avenue and that’s about it (for similarities).

What it won’t have is a mythology as complicated as “Fringe.”

The concept that sold ABC on the “666 Park Avenue” pilot is it’s story of people who make Faustian bargains.

“The idea is that everyone has some sort of innate desire or ambition and when they move into 666 Park Avenue, the answer to their need, desire or ambition will be presented,” Wilcox says. “The show is about seduction and about wish fulfillment, but with the be-careful-what-you-wish-for dark side of that.

Watch for the premiere this fall on ABC.

ABC’s supernatural-tinged drama pilot, “666 Park Avenue”, just got picked up for a full season. And quicker than you can say the title three times, there’s a trailer for the series.

The pilot was written by “Fringe” scribe David Wilcox.

Let us know what you think. It’s certainly more “light and rompy” than I expected, and it definitely lacks the flair for the edgy and bizarre that “American Horror Story” has. It looks more like “Supernatural” for rich yuppies who don’t go anywhere. Actually it looks nothing like “Supernatural”.

What does it look like?!?! Head inside. READ MORE

TV: ABC Gets The Keys To “666 Park Avenue”

ParkAvenue12312 TV: ABC Gets The Keys To 666 Park Avenue

At the very least, it sounds like “666 Park Avenue” has kind of a killer premise. It’s about a young couple who move from the midwest to NYC and discover that the apartment building they’ve agreed to manage is filled with people who have made deals with the Devil.

And then you find out that ABC is working with the producers of “Gossip Girl” and “The Vampire Diaries” to bring this to you and you wonder if they might play it all for surface value.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, “From Warner Bros. Television and Alloy, ’666 Park’ is based on the book series by Gabriella Pierce. Like the books, the drama centers on an innocent couple from the midwest that moves to New York and gets hired to be resident managers of a building on the Upper East Side. There, unbeknownst to the couple, the residents have all unwittingly made deals with the Devil to have their deepest needs, ambitions and desires fulfilled. David Wilcox is attached to adapt the project.

What do you think? Can this team bring us something special or will it just be a quickly fizzling soap? READ MORE
