During the tenure of Abe Sapien’s sojourn he has come across a plethora of ghastly monsters of all shapes and sizes, but they stayed beneath the umbrella mutations, not keystone monsters from the horror genre. That all seems to be changing in “Abe Sapien: To the Last Man” where a classic monster rears its undead face. READ MORE
So much has been going on in the Mignolaverse with Abe on the run and Hellboy dead, it’s nice to have a highly volatile character like Liz Sherman back into the fold. This arc has had a lot of revelations throughout it and this final chapter cements some key plot points that will take over in the New Year. READ MORE
After a decent hiatus “Hellboy in Hell” is back with its fifth issue following the fallen hero on his journey through the bowels of his forsaken kingdom. It’s no surprise that Mignola has waited to release this issue. There has been a lot of action since the inception of this book and even more since its break with the two companion titles, “B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth” and “Abe Sapien”. As these other titles have come to a big events, the Hellboy story continues. READ MORE
Abe Sapien has been on a journey of self-discovery for some time now, he’s fought in battle and ran from old friends but only now has he truly begun to see his path. This book is a visual masterpiece, Sebastián and Max Fiumara fill every panel with supreme quality that gives so much life to the story. Last month’s issue was slow and focused on plot development, this issue quickly picks up the intensity as, once again, Abe finds himself in trouble. READ MORE
Scott Allie, Editor-In-Chief at Dark Horse Comics, is a busy man to say the least. Aside from his non-stop work editing at Dark Horse, he also contributes regularly as a writer to the BPRD universe, and in case that wasn’t enough, he took on the role of Editor for the “CBLDF Annual Liberty 2013″, the newest anthology from Image Comics that benefits the efforts of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. The anthology boasts a pretty insane lineup of talent including work from Tim Seeley, Richard Corben, Joshua Williamson, Michael Moreci, Emi Lenox, and more.
Scott Allie took the time to chat with Bloody-disguting about “Abe Sapien”, the current state of the BPRD universe, and how it all ties into the “CBLDF Liberty Annual 2013″, which drops in October. READ MORE
Hell on Earth has come and the B.P.R.D.’s only clue as to how to stop it is Abe Sapien, who is currently on the run from an agency that no longer shadows his trail. “Abe Sapien” #5, The New Race of Man Part 2, doesn’t shed too much light on Abe’s current condition, but it is crafted in a way that makes it an interesting and thrilling read. I can never stop giving praise to the creative team behind this book, both writing and art are a treat to witness, making each issue special in its own way. READ MORE
Coming fresh off his debut arc in his new ongoing, Abe Sapien continues on his journey of self-discovery in the two-part “Abe Sapien: The New Race of Man”. After the last horror-filled arc ended with an intense confrontation and massive battle, this issue dials it back a notch, but really pushes forward the development of the plot and subplots. There is only one word in the English language that can properly relay the masterpiece that is Abe Sapien: Dark and Terrible #3: WOW. This third installment of Abe Sapien’s own ongoing is everything I want in a book and more. Scott Allie has been doing a wonderful job tailoring Abe’s own unique story but the hat has to be tipped to artist Sebastián Fiumara and the ever impressive colourist Dave Stewart. Mayhem, action and most importantly plot twists make this story one of the best I have had the luxury of reviewing this year. READ MORE
The new ongoing series Abe Sapien: Dark and Terrible continues this week with an issue that really begins to delve into the origin of Abe, and perhaps his destiny, in the massive event occurring in B.P.R.D. Abe’s presence has been missed, and unlike the previous issue, we really get some good ol’ Abe action this time around. Scott Allie has really taken the reins from Migonal when it comes to the “Hell on Earth” event and he is doing a fantastic job of creating a thrilling story. On the other hand, Sebastián Fiumara has not been a staple in the B.P.R.D. world, but he is really making a name for himself here. READ MORE

Throughout the past few months Abe Sapien has made several cameos in the “B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth” event, spending his time in a Star Wars-esque healing tank repairing a life threatening gunshot wound. Abe Sapien #1: Dark and Terrible sees the full return of this bad ass character. A lot of time has passed since his injury and his awakening isn’t the joy fest it should be. The “Hell on Earth” event continues to storm on as “Hellboy in Hell” plays out alongside it, and Abe has been left in the dark. It’s clear that he will play an epic role in the future, but will it be for the good or the evil? Mike Mignola, Scott Allie, Sebastián Fiumara, and Dave Stewart have done an outstanding job on this issue, which bodes very well for the future of this new ongoing series. READ MORE

Abe Sapien wasn’t around the B.P.R.D. in 2012, being in a coma and all. But all that looks to change in 2013. I have to say that for the better half of a year now the “B.P.R.D” series from Mike Mignola (“HELLBOY”) has bettered the more popular “HELLBOY”. While Big Red is still good, there seems to be something lacking in the past few arcs. But when it comes to “B.P.R.D” the series has been nothing but great fun and old school entertainment. Inside you can read the first 3 pages of the newest issue that drops this coming Wednesday as well as the full synopsis. Read on for the skinny.
