Anthrax Stream Cover Of AC/DC’s “TNT”

Heavy metal legends Anthrax have released a stream of their take on the classic AC/DC track “TNT”, which you can hear below (courtesy of Loudwire). The song comes from the band’s upcoming covers EP Anthems, which hits streets Mar. 19th (pre-order here).

Drummer Charlie Benante comments, “We recorded the track in Chicago and in Los Angeles [and] the sessions were really easy, felt really good. The thing about ‘T.N.T.’ for me is that there’s not a lot of drumming on it. So the challenge for me was to not go crazy with fills, but to pay tribute to the original recording, and keep it AC/DC.READ MORE

Anthrax To Release New EP ‘Anthems’

Thrash metal legends Anthrax will be releasing an 8-track EP entitled Anthems on March 19th in N. America. The EP features six covers from band such as Rush, Cheap Trick, Boston, and more, and two Anthrax tracks. For their cover of Boston’s “Smokin’,” the band brought in keyboardist Fred Mandel, who has recorded with Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, Queen, Elton John, and many more.

Drummer Charlie Benante comments on the Boston cover, saying, “If ever there were a perfect first album, it’s Boston’s first album. The harmony leads they did would later be heard by Iron Maiden, which of course would lead to thrash metal.

Vocalist Joey Belladonna, “These are all bands I grew up with and have listened to forever. It’s just great music. I had fun singing these songs and I was happy recording together with Anthrax, doing classic rock songs. Fun stuff!READ MORE

[Random Cool] Can You Guess All The Guitarists?

Artist Maxim Dalton painted a poster of 35 of the greatest guitar players ever. While it doesn’t include some famous axe wielders (I don’t see Dimebag Darrell on there), it is a pretty comprehensive painting of guitarists who have shaped and influenced their genres. The painting was released as a limited edition poster but sold out long ago.

But what I want to know is can you identify them all! So head on below to test yourself on your guitar player knowledge! READ MORE

Gregorian Meets Metal In ‘The Dark Side Of The Chant’

Gregorian Meets Metal In The Dark Side Of The Chant
I love me some metal. But what you might not know about me is that I also love kicking back to classical and chant every once in a while. So when I hear that the two are mixing, I get a little antsy in my pantsy, know what I mean? Such is the case with Gregorian, who are releasing The Dark Side Of The Chant, an album tomorrow that has them covering bands such as Evanescence, AC/DC, Unheilig, and more. Their cover of Hell’s Bells didn’t really do much for me but I’m really interested to hear Madonna‘s Frozen and Depeche Mode‘s Stripped
Check out a video after the jump that features sound clips and interviews with several of the members.
