Aerosmith And Lenny Kravitz Pen Anthems For NFL Teams

Something that Aural Pleasures podcast Bill got me hooked into this year was fantasy football. Now, if you were to know me at all, you’d know that my knowledge of sports and sports rules is minimal at best and wholly inaccurate at worst. But something about lining up my starters and making a trade here and there hooked me! And, wouldn’t ya believe it, I’m 3rd in my league! SUCK IT BILL!

Getting to the meat and potatoes of the story here, Pepsi has teamed up with the NFL to create the Pepsi NFL Anthems Campaign. Aerosmith and Lenny Kravitz have put out their songs for the New England Patriots and the New York Jets, respectively. The songs can be heard below and are also available for free download! You can also hear more songs for more teams here. Check ‘em out and let me know who your favorite team is! READ MORE

[News Bits] Johnny Depp Jams With Aerosmith & Ke$ha Vs. The Beatles

Got two news bits for you that are weird enough to combine into one article. The first story is that actor Johnny Depp (Nightmare on Elm St., Dark Shadows) joined Aerosmith at the Hollywood Bowl this past Monday (the 6th). The actor played guitar during the song “Train Kept-A Rollin’”. This isn’t the first time Depp has jammed with other musicians. He also appeared on stage with Alice Cooper as well as Marilyn Manson. You can watch video of the performance below.

The second bit I’ve got for you is a really weird mashup of Ke$ha‘s “Tik Tok” with The Beatles‘ “Come Together”. Surprisingly, it works far better than I could’ve imagined. You can stream the song below. READ MORE

UPDATE: [Album Review] Longreef ‘Dirty Motel EP’

Update: You can download a free track “Want Me Back” by clicking here.

Review by Chris Lockett: In this day and age, it is very difficult for a Rock band to be successful. The great Australian band AC/DC once said, “It’s a long way to the top if you wanna Rock n’ Roll”. And now, a new Aussie band is looking for success here in the U.S. Their name is Longreef, and they plan to release their second EP, entitled “Dirty Motel” on June 12th. They certainly have the drive to be a success, but do they have the talent? Hit the jump to find out! READ MORE

NEWS BITES: Stone Temple PIlots Done Recording New Album, Aerosmith Looking To Replace Steven Tyler, Hatebreed Postpones First 3 Shows Of Black Procession Tour

Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots told Spin.com “we just finished the last two songs at my home studio, and we’re going through the editing process and getting everything sounding tasty. A gentleman by the name of Chris Lord-Alge, who actually mixed a song of ours back in early 2000 called ‘All in the Suit That You Wear’, will mix the new album.” The album is due out sometime this year.

TheGlobeAndMail.com caught up with Joe Perry and he had this to say about the future of Aerosmith, “Right now, we’re talking about getting another singer to fill in for Steven. I don’t know what’s going on with him, but as far as Aerosmith goes, we’re going to find somebody to sing.” He also added ” “I think it would make more sense, with a band like Aerosmith, to get somebody who the fans might recognize. There’s no sense going out there and being an Aerosmith clone band. In order for both parties to get something out of this, to move things along musically, it’s important to get somebody who’s a legitimate headliner on their own.”

Hatebreed has announced the first three shows of the Black Procession tour with Machine Head have been postponed due to frontman Jamey Jasta falling ill. These shows will be rescheduled for mid-April time. He had this to say on the matter “I feel terrible to have to miss these first 3 shows but I need this time to heal up to make sure I will be 100%.” READ MORE
