Daniel Radcliffe Woke Up Shocked At His Bizarre ‘Horns’ Role

MTV hit up Harry Potter‘s Daniel Radcliffe at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival where they got him to speak briefly on his role in Alexandre Aja’s Horns, as well as his interest in Max Landis’ script for a Frankenstein film.

A few weeks after we finished, I woke up one morning thinking, ‘What was that? What was that film I just did?’ It’s so crazy,” Radcliffe said of working on Horns, where he plays a man who awakens one morning to find horns starting to grow from his own head and soon realizes their power drives people to confess their sins and give in to their impulses. “I feel like I have less concept of what it’s going to be now than when I first started, which is bizarre, but it’s very exciting.

Speaking on the bizarre aspects of the film, “I got to have burn make-up on, and then I got to come out of the Pacific Ocean after having been burned alive and drowned — and I survived that because I’m a boss.

He also confirmed that he’s interest in working on Chronicle scribe Max Landis’ Frankenstein project, which would cast him in a hunchbacked, Igor-type role. “I love that script… but to say it’s in any way an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” is probably [not accurate]. It’s a Max Landis script so anyone familiar with his work [will] have some sense of what that means.

Horns is currently in post production. READ MORE

I had been attempting to get a higher resolution version to no avail, therefore, thanks to BD reader “Fearhasnocure”, below you’ll find the Cannes sales art for Franck Khalfoun’s Maniac remake. While the Hollywood Reporter raved about the slasher, word around the market was mixed to negative.

Elija Wood plays the role of a serial killer who works at a shop that sells antique mannequins. He finds victims on the Internet and stalks them like prey, all the while suffering from hallucinations that throw him back into the past, when he was abused by his own mother. In his twisted mind, he gains a measure of revenge against his mother with each kill.

Nora Arnezeder, Genevieve Alexandra, America Olivo, Morgane Slemp, Sal Landi, Dan Hunter, Freedom, Délé Ogundiran, Steffinnie Phrommany and Joshua De La Garza also star in the pic produced by Alex Aja. READ MORE

Alexandre Aja To Grow ‘Horns’!

AleAja120811 Alexandre Aja To Grow Horns!

It’s been a while since we had news on the Horns front. Back in March we reported that Shia Labeouf was attached to play the lead but that may have changed – there’s no mention of him on today’s announcement that Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes (Remake), and Piranha 3D) is taking the reigns on the adaptation of Joe Hill’s book.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, “Aja is coming on board to direct the project, about a 26-year-old man who wakes up with a massive hangover and discovers horns sprouting from his head. He becomes convinced that their existence is tied to the unsolved murder of his girlfriend. Scott Bunin wrote the script adaptation of the novel, which was published in February 2010. Mandalay’s Cathy Schulman and Peter Guber are producing. Hill, also the writer of the horror comic book series Locke & Key and the son of author Stephen King, is executive producing. Mandate is packaging the project and is in the middle of securing financing. The goal is to have Aja direct the movie in late spring or early summer 2012 before moving on to ‘Cobra’, a sci-fi pirate movie based on manga source material.

Either “The Beef” dropped out or they forgot to mention him. Sounds like an interesting project either way, but I wonder if Aja will ever get around to an original piece of material (i.e. not a remake, sequel or adaptation). READ MORE
