‘Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero’ Cover Art Revealed

Legendary Comics and Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro gave WonderCon attendees a surprise treat as they revealed the cover art for the graphic novel, Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero (see below). The fully-painted cover was created by Alex Ross.

“Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero” is a prequel to the upcoming film, which follows the first time the Kaiju monsters attack the Earth. The book is written by Pacific Rim screenwriter, Travis Beacham with artwork from Sean Chen, Yvel Guichet, and Pericles Junior. READ MORE

Preview: Alex Ross & Chris Roberson’s ‘Masks’ #1

Alex Ross (“Kingdom Come”) has largely been off of interior art work for quite some time. Finally, he’s back on the inside alongside writer Chris Roberson for Dynamite’s pulp-filled crossover event, Masks. When all goes to political hell in an alternate 1938, masked heroes The Shadow, The Green Hornet, Kato, and The Spider band together to take on the seediest of organized criminals. I’d say this one is worth it for Ross’ artwork alone, but knowing Chris Roberson, the story will probably be just as good. If you’re not convinced, you will be after the preview. READ MORE

Alex Ross Will Be Painting All Of Chris Roberson’s ‘Masks’

Alex Ross is well known for his comic cover art, however, he has not done a full interior for a book since “Justice”, which ended in 2007. Perhaps even more noteworthy is that fact that this is the first work-for-hire project that Roberson has agreed to since putting the kibosh on DC and Marvel. Masks comes from Dynamite, and it brings together all of their pulpy masked heroes including The Shadow, Green Hornet, Kato, Zorro, The Spider, Miss Fury, The Black Batand, and more.
