The Best Of ‘Carrie’ Flames Online In Heaps of Blood

Everyone and their mom (literally) knows about the infamous pig’s blood scene from Stephen King’s Carrie, which launches the teen into an unstoppable rage of violence and destruction. But to be frank, it’s kind of bumming me out that the pinnacle of this classic story is already being shared with us in a slew of images. The latest comes via Director Kimberly Peirce who shared a new look at Chloe Moretz as the title character from the titular moment. Moretz is literally covered in blood and flames are bursting all around her. What are we supposed to look forward to now? At least save the money shot for the trailer!

Julianne Moore, Alex Russell, Ansel Elgort, Gabriella Wilde, Judy Greer and Portia Doubleday all star.

In theaters March 15, 2013, “‘Carrie’ tells the supernatural tale of a telekinetic teenage girl tormented by her peers. The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine, is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter, Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Doubleday), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Wilde), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

Buckets Of Blood Behind-the-Scenes Of ‘Carrie’!

Now filming in Toronto, Canada is Sony Screen Gems’ remake of Carrie, which has Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry, Stop-Loss) in the director’s chair.

While we’ll have our own report forthcoming, the cast and crew have been using social avenues to share some really cool behind-the-scenes imagery that includes buckets of (pigs?) blood!

Starring Chloë Grace Moretz (Hugo), four-time Oscar nominee Julianne Moore (Hannibal, Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Kids are Alright), and Judy Greer (The Descendants), Carrie tells the supernatural tale of a telekinetic teenage girl tormented by her peers. Carrie is slated for a March 13, 2013 theatrical release.

Star Alex Russell Says Josh Trank May Not Return For ‘Chronicle 2′…

Bloody Disgusting stringer Maria Lewis (@moviemazz) writes in with some first word on Chronicle 2!

It was one of the surprise hits of the year, so what’s unsurprising is that Chronicle is ‘definitely’ getting a sequel. Australian actor Alex Russell played one of the teen-turned-superheroes and said his character Matt is the focus of the follow-up film.

That’s the plan,” he said.

(Screenwriter) Max Landis is working hard on that right now.

He’s dropping hints here and there all over the world, he loves to keep people sweating.

Russell – who recently arrived in Toronto to begin work on the Carrie remake – said he speaks regularly with Landis about Chronicle 2, but the screenwriter is keeping him in the dark about specific plot points. READ MORE

Chloe Moretz Looks Directly To Stephen King’s ‘Carrie’ For Inspiration

In the coming months young superstar Chloe Grace Moretz will transform into a psychic prom queen when she becomes the third person to channel the character Carrie, the title role in the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s coming-of-age novella.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, the young starlette explains that she’s going to go under quite a transformation for the MGM reboot also starring Julianne Moore, Alex Russell, Ansel Elgort, Gabriella Wilde, Judy Greer and Portia Doubleday:

I am changing everything about me—my hair, my look. I’m doing my own take on [the character],” she explains on the difference between her role and De Palma’s 1976 Carrie. “The script is totally different from the [original]. It’s more like the book. It’s a more Black Swan version—it messes with your mind. You’ll see things, and you don’t know if you’ve seen them.

This time around, Moore will be playing her abrasive and psychotic mother. But Moretz feels they will still connect on set: “I don’t know if we are supposed to bond [because of our characters’ relationship], but I feel like we both will because we’re both cool.READ MORE

Scoop Confirmed: Judy Greer Cast In MGM’s ‘Carrie’ Reboot

Even though sources close to the production denied our exclusive casting report, we always trust our personal sources, one of which told us that Judy Greer (pictured below) had been cast as the gym teacher Miss Desjardin in MGM’s Carrie reboot. They were right. In addition, it’s also been reported that Portia Doubleday has been locked to play bad girl Chris Hargensen.

Nancy Allen played Hargensen in the original and Betty Buckley played the sympathetic gym teacher who comforts Carrie White when she menstruates and doesn’t understand what is happening because of the guilt hammered into her by her repressive mother. Hargensen triggers Carrie’s telekinetic powers with an atrocious prom prank, says Deadline.

They’ll all star alongside Chloe Moretz, Julianne Moore, Alex Russell and Ansel Elgort, with Moretz taking the title role and Moore playing her psychotic mother.

[Interview] Alex Russell Spills Pig’s Blood In ‘Carrie’ Reboot

Alex Russell chronicle [Interview] Alex Russell Spills Pigs Blood In Carrie Reboot

Maria Lewis reports: In the age of reboots and remakes, Chronicle star Alex Russell has spoken out in defence of Kimberely Peirce’s upcoming Carrie remake.

The Aussie actor plays the ill-fated Billy Nolan in the film – “he’s the one responsible for the pig’s blood” – and said Peirce’s take is “justifiable“.

The original is a classic but the way Kimberley Pierce is playing everything, I feel like her spin on it is going to be so different,” he said.

It’s a very valid, justifiable remake of a classic.

It’s a thing that’s really going to stand on its own.

Best known for his breakout role in Chronicle earlier this year, Russell said he’s “pumped” be starring alongside Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore.

I’m so excited to be able to meet Julianne Moore, (and) Chloe Moretz.

I feel like I’m going to be sort of rocking up and surrounded by artists I admire.

Hopefully I can keep my cool and not get nervous.

Russell said he only watched the original 1976 movie for the first time after he auditioned for the part and that he’s currently reading Stephen King’s novel.

The Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa adaptation of the Stephen King thriller is about the hyperkinetic teenager who gets pushed too far at the prom and wreaks havoc on her fellow high school students.

Sony have Carrie slated for a March 15, 2013 release.

The original 1976 pic was based on the Stephen King novel that followed a sheltered high schooler who unleashes her new telekinetic powers on the kids who picked on her at school. Russell will play one of the bullies, and Elgort will play a friend who takes Carrie to the prom.

King’s bestselling book was turned into the 1976 film that starred Sissy Spacek, John Travolta, Amy Irving and Piper Laurie as the repressive mother.

[Interview] Michael B. Jordan Talks ‘Chronicle’, Flying And Found Footage!

MichaelJordan12712 [Interview] Michael B. Jordan Talks Chronicle, Flying And Found Footage!

Director Josh Trank’s Chronicle sets out to challenge your perceptions of what exactly constitutes a superhero movie just as much as it sets out to redefine the “found footage” genre (or conceit, as some would say). While it’s not entirely successful at the latter, it pulls off the former quite well. My full review hit later this week and, despite some minor problems I had with the movie, I think it’s well worth checking out.

Before I saw the film (but after I saw about 30 minutes of footage) I had the chance to hop on the phone with Michael B. Jordan, a super charismatic actor who plays the super charismatic Steve Montgomery in the movie. Fans of “Friday Night Lights” (and Red Tails) will no doubt be familiar with the actor.

Thoughts On ‘Chronicle’ Footage Plus Q&A With Director Josh Trank!

Thoughts On Chronicle Footage Plus Q&A With Director Josh Trank!

Last week I was invited, along with several other journalists, to the Fox lot in Century City to check out some footage for the upcoming supernatural thriller Chronicle. Written by Max Landis (son of John) and directed by Josh Trank, Chronicle takes the standard “teen acquires superpowers” conceit and explores the smaller, more mundane daily elements of it. That is, until things get really big. Which I can assure you they do.

The film is centered around three unlikely teenage friends who happen upon a cave-like space that grants them telekinetic powers. The two more well adjusted guys (played by Michael B. Jordan and Alex Russell) focus on honing their powers at least somewhat responsibly while the more introverted Andrew (Dane DeHaan) begins to go off the rails a bit.

While I can’t judge an entire film only by the 15-20 minutes of footage they showed, what I did see certainly had some intriguing elements. There’s some stuff that could be genuinely exciting if they pull it off correctly. I have a few concerns as well (the characters being chief among them) but again, I’ll just have to wait and see the whole thing.

Hit the jump to check more details on the footage along with excerpts from a Q&A with director Josh Trank and creative exec Steve Asbell.
