[TV] New Promo Art For Season 6 Of “True Blood” Grabs A Stake!

We’ve got some cool key art for season 6 of HBO’s “True Blood“. While the concept is obvious, I rather like the design.

Season 6 picks up immediately after last year’s bloody finale, which found Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) attempting to escape a very scary–and very naked–Bill (Stephen Moyer, who also directed the premiere episode). Joining the “True Blood” regulars this year are guest stars Rutger Hauer, Arliss Howard, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rob Kazinsky, Karolina Wydra, Luke Grimes, and Amelia Rose Blaire.

Season 6 of “True Blood” is set to premiere on Sunday, June 16 at 9/8c and we’ve gotten word of at least one more familiar face that will be back. TV Line is reporting that Anna Camp (The Help) will reprise her role as anti-vamp puritan Sarah. I really like Camp, but sadly it looks like this will only be for a few episodes.

The series started in 2008, “In a world where vampires have “come out of the coffin”, Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress, discovers a new world of different creatures when she meets Bill Compton, a vampire.”

Also joining the HBO smash in Season 6 are acting vet Rutger Hauer (as a mysterious figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason), “Rubicon’s” Arliss Howard (as Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell), “Friday Night Lights” grad Jurnee Smollett-Bell (as do-gooder Nicole), “90210‘s” Amelia Rose Blaire (as Howard’s onscreen daughter), “House‘s” Karolina Wydra (as a badass vamp) and All The Boys Love Mandy Lane‘s Luke Grimes as James, a Jim Morrison style vampire. I didn’t finish Season 5, but I’m pretty sure there’s some new footage in the teaser for Season 6 of “True Blood”. The premiere is set to air on Sunday, June 16 at 9/8c.

HBO’s “True Blood” is currently filming its’ sixth season for a summer premiere and it looks like Karolina Wydra (pictured above; “House”) will be joining the show. Per TVLine, she’ll be playing Violet, who “is described as a strong, sexy, possibly dangerous vamp on par with the Eric Northmans and Bill Comptons of the world.” Big surprise, I know!

“True Blood” returns to HBO Sunday, June 10 at 9 PM ET/PT. The show’s fifth season will contain 12 episodes and will be the last season of the program overseen by show runner Alan Ball. Now we have the official preview of the return epsiode, “Turn! Turn! Turn!” above!

“Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) struggle with the aftermath of Tara’s (Rutina Wesley) shooting, while also cleaning up after Debbie Pelt. Meanwhile, Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgård), cleaning up a mess of their own, are visited by the Vampire Authority, one of whom is Nora (Lucy Griffiths), a woman from Eric’s past. In search of the missing Marcus, Alcide’s (Joe Manganiello) werewolf pack comes after Sam (Sam Trammell). With Bill away, Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) enjoys her new freedom by partying with local college kids; Jason (Ryan Kwanten) is visited by the recently turned Rev. Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian); Terry’s (Todd Lowe) PTSD is reignited by Patrick Devins (Scott Foley), an old Iraq War buddy; and Alcide turns up at Sookie’s to warn her about the recently resurfaced Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare). Starring Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, Alexander Skarsgaard, Stellan Skarsgard, Udo Kier and John Hurt, Magnolia Pictures has announced that they will release Lars von Trier’s dramatic thriller Melancholia (review) on VOD October 7, before sticking it in limited theaters on November 11.

Not the kind of film you’d want to see on Thanksgiving weekend, a UK trailer has been added below that’s a bit more representational of the tonal shifting that occurs in the end of the world thriller. While not a horror film, Melancholia will emotional destroy you. That’s a promise.

I begin to doubt myself every single time I post an article highlighting Lars von Trier’s Melancholia. Sure, it’s about the end of the world, but it looks more like a drama than something for genre fans. Having just caught a screening of the film, I can assure you that, while a drama on the surface, Melancholia is a deeply disturbing film that will rock your very core.

Starring Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, Alexander Skarsgaard, Stellan Skarsgard, Udo Kier and John Hurt, Magnolia Pictures has announced that they will release the dramatic thriller on VOD October 7, before sticking it in limited theaters on November 11. Although, I’m pretty sure this isn’t the kind of film you want to see before your Thanksgiving holiday…

The first clip from Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia has found its way online and has proven why we should be covering this “end of the world drama.” The above quote comes out of star Kirsten Dunst’s mouth as she explains her feelings towards the impending end of the world to co-star Charlotte Gainsbourg.

You’ll also find a new red band TV Spot inside.

Magnolia Pictures recently announced a November 4, 2011 release date for Von Trier’s apocalyptic drama also starring Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, Alexander Skarsgaard, Stellan Skarsgard, Udo Kier and John Hurt.

In Melancholia, Dunst and Gainsbourg play sisters whose lives are drifting apart as the universe spectacularly unravels in what Von Trier describes as a beautiful movie about the end of the world (when a planet called Melancholia crashed into Earth).

Before the official website crashed, the first poster and images were put on display for Lars von Trier’s Melancholia, an end of the world drama starring Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, Alexander Skarsgaard, Stellan Skarsgard, Udo Kier, and John Hurt.

While the apocalyptic tale is being pegged as a drama, Von Trier is always extremely cryptic about his features that always seem to delve deep into the dark psyche.

The end of the world is coming, courtesy of Danish director Lars Von Trier.

The official website was launched for Von Trier’s Melancholia that confirms the plot, an unknown planet hidden behind the sun has come out of hiding and is about to hit the Earth.

Starring Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, Alexander Skarsgaard, Stellan Skarsgard, Udo Kier, and John Hurt, Magnolia Pictures has already acquired domestic distro rights for the pic described as “A beautiful movie about the end of the world.” With Von Trier, it’s unknown if he’s being ironic, although the footage is nothing short of spectacular.

One criticism: at the end of the footage, it looks more like the planet is passing rather than about to actually hit Earth. Not sure if that’s intentional, but they may want to rework that FX in my opinion….
