Team Aural Pleasures is back with another sexy podcast for all you Bloody-Disgusting readers! Bill, Adam, and Jonny are back to chat some more music, horror, and silliness. In this podcast, Adam explains his long absence, Bill questions the worth of Prince, the guys all bring up some songs that are good for…well…engaging in extracurricular activities. The guys also bring up the music of some of the biggest horror video game titles to be released this year, including Devil May Cry, Dead Space 3, and Aliens: Colonial Marines. Enjoy it all below!
It has been announced that Kevin Riepl (Gears Of War, The Aggression Scale, Aliens: Colonial Marines) will be composing Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, the prequel to the 2002 Eli Roth-directed film. The film has a 2014 release date.
Directed by Kaare Andrews, the film stars Sean Astin (Lord Of The Rings, The Goonies), Jillian Murray (The Graves), and Brando Eaton (Dexter, American Horror Story: Asylum).
“When a cruise ship in the Caribbean collides with an abandoned research vessel, a deadly virus is unleashed. Passengers must find a way to survive before the flesh eating disease consumes them all.” READ MORE
The Silent Night remake hit limited theaters last Friday and has been drawing in some very high reviews, including one from our very own Lonnie Nadler, which you can check out here. We’ve brought you an interview with director Steven C. Miller and now it’s time to chat the music of the film with composer Kevin Riepl! Below you’ll find an exclusive interview with the music maestro himself.
The film’s cast includes Malcolm McDowell (Rob Zombie’s Halloween, Easy A), Jaime King (Sin City, My Bloody Valentine 3D), Donal Logue (Shark Night 3D, Blade), Lisa Marie (Sleepy Hollow), Brendan Fehr (Final Destination, X-Men First Class), and Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World).
“McDowell and King star as a small-town sheriff and deputy on the hunt for a murderous Santa Claus terrorizing their community on Christmas Eve. But with the streets full of Santas for the annual Christmas parade, the killer is hiding in plain sight. He’s made his list, checked it twice, and the naughty are going to pay with their lives.” READ MORE
Opening in 10 theaters this Friday will be the loose remake for Steven C. Miller’s Silent Night. It will also be hitting Blu-ray/DVD on Dec. 4th.
Now, the score for the film is available on iTunes here. Composed by Kevin Riepl (Aliens: Colonial Marines, Gears Of War, The Aggression Scale, Henri), the music features “dark ambient chills, orchestral thrills and holiday sleigh bells”. You can see the trailer for the film, the OST cover, and the full track listing below. READ MORE
Gamers have been waiting patiently for a great Aliens game for some time, and with each new trailer I see for the Gearbox developed Aliens: Colonial Marines I feel more confident that this could be the Aliens game we have been looking for (or this could be it too). In this brand alien-spanking new trailer, we get a good look at the new Survivor mode, which pits four marines against seemingly endless hordes of Xenomorphs. It looks like a mix of Left 4 Dead and Gears of War’s Horde mode, which I am all for. Check it out after the break.
On Oct. 12th, at the New York Comic Con, there will be a panel that I’m quite upset I won’t be able to attend. Titled “Maestros Of Horror & Sci-Fi Music”, the panel will feature video game composers Jason Graves (Dead Space), Kevin Riepl (Gears Of War, Aliens: Colonial Marines), Sascha Dikiciyan (Mass Effect 3), Cris Velasco (Mass Effect 3), Sam Hulick (Mass Effect trilogy), Tom Salta (Halo: Combat Evolved), and Nile Rodgers (Halo soundtracks album producer).
The panel will be discussing composing for the horror and sci-fi genres as well as the art of scoring for blockbuster videogames. The panel will be held at the Javits Center in Room 1A01 from 12:15pm to 1:15pm.
I’m a huge fan of most of these composers. If you’re going to the NYC Comic Con, do yourself a favor and attend this event. I’m 99.99% sure that it will be incredible. READ MORE
Sega and friends recently unveiled a new competitive multiplayer mode in the upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines called ‘Escape’, and while it might be lacking in the originality department, it still looks like it’ll be good gory fun. In it, four marines attempt to escape an onslaught of Xenomorphs, four of which are controlled by a team of human players. The Cenomorphs come in a variety of flavors, including the damage-resistant Soldier, the speedy Lurker, and the ranged Spitter. This isn’t the first time a horror game has tried to capture Left 4 Dead’s success–Dead Space 2 made an admirable attempt last year–so I hope Colonial Marines is a little more successful. Check out some new Escape mode gameplay after the break.

Aliens: Colonial Marines finally gave us something in the way of an asset with the teaser trailer below. While we have been waiting forever to hear anything at all. Then, Nintendo drops their bomb about the Wii U, and now, it would seem the 2 may be joining forces. Sega and Gearbox announced today that ACM is being prototyped and considered for the Nintendo Wii U. I’ve got to say, it sounds like an awesome launch title if you ask me.
“We are extremely thrilled about the potential of the Nintendo Wii U and are honored to be a part of the earliest efforts for research and development on the platform with the Aliens: Colonial Marines project that is so perfectly matched with the platform’s unique and exciting new capabilities,” said Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software. “As more details about the Nintendo Wii U emerge, Gearbox Software is equipped and motivated to engage and support the platform and its customers.” READ MORE

The game will have players leading a ground of highly trained US Marines onto an abandoned space craft (like in most space video games) and find out what happened to the crew. I bet you can guess what’s on board. Past the break for more. READ MORE

Hey there kids, we have a new Dead Pixels Podcast up now! Join TJ and Kiel, guests Mike and Adam, in this marathon length podcast discussing games of 2008, and the contenders for Best Horror game of 2008. Also we debate the validity of Left 4 Dead and what really constitutes a zombie…
So Activision along with many other titles, is dropping the new Ghostbusters video game. The game is NOT canceled. Think of it like this. Your favorite band gets dropped from their label. Oh no, right? All you can do is hope they get picked up by another label (a decent one), or they might break up and you’ll never hear anymore new music by them. Or they’ll get picked up by a crappy label, and the quality won’t be as good, and then they will be pulled from your myspace top friends list.
Ghostbusters wasn’t the only game to get dropped, Brutal Legend, Wet, Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, World in Conflict: Soviet Assault, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, Zombie Wranglers and Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust are the others hoping to get picked up. If some of these games don’t get picked back up, then it looks like you’re never going to see them. Now, as much as I’d love to see the new 50 Cent video game, I’m not going to hold my breath.
I’m not too worried about Ghostbusters being picked back up, because I mean come on IT’S GONNA BE AWESOME. Don’t believe me? Read Mr. Brad Disgusting’s review of the game when he got to play it at Comic-Con, *cough* that son of a bitch *cough*. GHOSTBUSTERS REVIEW!
The game was supposed to be released in October of this year. Lets keep our fingers crossed it’s not pushed back, or at least not too far. READ MORE
